Insider Tips

LOCAL CULTURE

Dress

The only time visitors to Turkey are asked not to wear shorts and women are requested to cover their arms and legs is when they visit a mosque. This is asked as a gesture of respect, much as when tourists visit European cathedrals. While, for cultural or religious reasons, many Turkish women do cover their heads, it is not obligatory for a tourist to do so. You may barrow a scarf at the entrance of the mosque.
MODERN SPLENDOUR IN ISTANBUL OVERLOOKING THE BOSPHORUS
Five star ambiance in the heart of the Ottoman's capital city, InterContinental Istanbul is the ideal base for exploring endless historic sites, museums, restaurants, clubs and shops. Located in Taksim with stunning views of the Bosphorus, Istanbul skyline and the Blue Mosque, this Istanbul hotel is a short walk from Dolmabahce Palace and Lütfi Kırdar Congress Hall. Our attentive concierge staff is also available for recommendations.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Family weekend stary I stayed with the family (one six year old girl and 2 year old boy) at the hotel for three nights, thursday-sunday. We had booked a club room but were upgraded to a seaview business suite (as part of the ambassador program) with great views and plenty of room for the whole family! We enjoyed the lounge each day and also used the hamam for a 60 minute treatment! Great experience! The only thing this hotel lacks is an indoor swimming pool! 24 November 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location The hotel is well located, near to public transport links. The room was clean and had great views over the Bosphorus. The concierge recommended a great restaurant called Topaz which lived up to his review. Good place to stay for a city break. 22 November 2014
