The biggest problem are the doors, can't sleep because you hear the door banging all night. Would recommend that a brake is installed on the doors so the they close softly. The restaurants are exceptionally good, probably the best you can get in all of Mexico

Doors in new rooms are noise when shutting. It's like slamming the door. Some hinge adjustment is needed.
Night party in a room next to mine two weekends ago lasted till 4am. I claim to room servce but it didn't worked.

First of all, concierge run out of newspapers which is supposed to be given to me being an IHG member. Unlike in most Intercontinental Hotels, I get a welcome drink voucher and some welcome treats (whether fruits or goodies) but I did not get any. I checked out of Presidente Intercon Mexico City and checked into Holiday Inn at Guanajuato which was fine, the very next day. Then the following day II checked into Presidente Intercon at Puebla which had far better service! I got the full benefits of being an IHG member. It made me wonder why a smaller city had better service. On my last night, with much hesitation, I booked back for Presidente Intercon at Mexico City again at 9pm ONLY because I stay at Intercontinental whenever there is one. Nothing to do with returning because of good service. I was hoping it was a fluke and would get better service since I will only be in the hotel from 11pm to 8am BUT I was extremely frustrated.
The air con was not working so I informed front desk. They sent up 2 tecnicians at past midnight who climbed up the ceiling and after much effort told me to just call front desk since it wasn't working.
Instead of moving us to a better room, they merely sent us an electric blower/fan which of course did not work well, I did not get ANY sleep.!!!
Before heading to the airport at 8am I tried the coffee maker but it was not working either. I called front desk who sent a lady from housekeeping who tried to help out but it was really busted even after she added all the water from the mini bar, in sight. She then suggested I just call room service so I could have my coffee before heading to airport since it was beyond repair.
When I went down to check out, I was speaking to the staff assigned to the front desk.
I explained all I went thru as I was checking out then front desk clerk referred me to the manager on duty who merely said "sorry." I told him to go up to my room now so he could see how warm it was, and if he could bear to sleep in that condition. It was cooler at the lobby!
He offered to give me a coupon for my next return but as you know, I live overseas and there would be no point giving me that when this is by far the worst Intercon I have ever stayed in so will never go back. He then offered me a club access to go with it. I told him I will never find myself in this City again so why not apply it to my stay now given how many things had gone wrong!
We stood there going back and forth with this discussion, to think I was trying to catch my flight to Los Angeles and was getting more delayed, by the minute.
As all that was happening, the intensity 7 earthquake started to happen and I had to evacuate lobby along with everyone else (who remained calm) We had to proceed t the airport so I briefly spoke to him and he said they will communicate with me thru email, but still no word from anyone until today.

Room quality and comfort were good. Location in Polanco is excellent. View from the room was excellent. Bedding was a little hard. As a platinum member I expected to receive complimentary bottled water as is the norm at competitive hotel programs where I also have status. I was told at the club level that the policy was to hand out only one bottled water per guest at the club to take to the room. When I called the manager, I was advised that they would give me a few bottles that night, but that the water in the tap was potable! Many other properties around the world have potable water, yet they offer bottled water. Upon check out, I asked them to email me my folio for expense purposes. I had to call them three times over two days to finally get an electronic copy. During one call, I was put on hold for over 20 minutes!

We travel to Mexico two or three times a year, and we always stay at your property because it is centrally located, and always clean. When we arrived the desk clerk told me he was upgrading us to a better room... even though it was one of your redecorated rooms it was smaller than the rooms we normally stay in. We are business men and use one room to save money but not if the rooms get smaller. Last time our first night was next to the elevator bay so we did not sleep a wink. This time we had a loud party next door, with slamming doors all night, and the last slam was around 4 am. When you cannot even take a nap because of all the remodeling noise, it's nice to be able to sleep at night. Last fall we were in your hotel in Guadalajara for the first time and it was great! We were in a private area, with a private club for breakfast and drinks in the evening...and we slept soundly every night. Hopefully you can learn from them.

It is always a pleasure to work in the great city of Mexico, and a particular pleasure for me to stay at El Presidente. I find the hotel very well managed, well maintained and very accessible. Staff are great fun and take all their responsibilities very seriously. I am always very pleased by the breakfast service on the 39th floor and by the professionalism of all the staff. I have lived in the hotel for 6 weeks in the last 9 months (as I work in DF) and have never had a bad experience. I shall be returnng for my fourth visit next year and look forward already. Great hotel and staff.

Theae last 18 months however are marked by extraordinary improvement. .
The service at the executive floor 39th floor is better and better..
Gullermo Valencia has certainly made his mark this last year..
The new rooms will be an expected improvement. ..

I was given an upgraded room and it was very nice overall. During day time it was noisy as I was warned due to renovation works, it was time for renovation of this hotel for sure, so when finished it is going to be a very nice hotel. Nice stay, good breakfast.

The normally great service from the staff, this time was surpassed in an incredible way. I am diabetic, and normally see how others have desserts but with no options for me. This time I informed Federico, 39 business floor captan about my situation. Next night I received the surprise! He together the pastry chef prepared for ME a chocolate mousse that was really good. But also they had for me the frozen cheese & dark chocolate cookies. Really delicious and amazing dish
Despite the great flavor, I have to recognize the custom oriented remarkable service from Federico; those dishes were not offered for the rest of the community at business lounge. They were ordered only for me. Thanks

I have been staying at this hotel for almost 20 years because of the excellent staff and location. However, the decor in the bedrooms, bathroom tiles and faucets really need to be updated.
The bathrooms have old and leaking shower heads and the faucets are in very bad shape such as corrosion, some don't turn off the water properly, others have missing parts or don't spray water properly. The tiles are not in great condition with poor tile grouting and lack of silicone around the tub area.
I recommend the hotel management to start remodelling some rooms, especilly the bathrooms, in order to compete with other up to date hotels in the same area such as the Hyatt, JW Marriott, and the W hotels which are next door and offer similar rates or better.

I needed to extend my stay due to cancelled flights resulting from bad weather at my destination. I was informed that it was not possible to extend at the Presidente but was provided with no assistance or suggestions for other arrangements. Unfortunate experience in a hotel with otherwise excellent service.

This is a very nice hotel, with the staff and service being the stars of the show. Everyone was so helpful and really eager to please. I love the modern look of the lobby and having a large selection of restaurants to choose from so I could dine without ever leaving the hotel.
The rooms (I switched so I got to experience two) were okay, showing their age but very clean. Being a lover of cool temperatures, I tried unsuccessfully to get the air conditioning to cool the room off but it just wasn't up to the task. I'd hate to stay here during the summer if it's like that. My bathroom was very dated and in need of updating.
Overall, a very good experience and I will certainly stay here again when I come back next month. Again - kudos to the staff and the wonderful service they provide.

I really like the ambience and vibe of the El Presidente. It has an excellent choice of dining options in the hotel and I have always enjoyed the restaurant Pied au Cochon. As a Club level member, I was able to enjoy breakfast on the 39th floor. This is a terrific amenity.
The room was fine and the bed comfortable. I would say that the décor is a bit dated but otherwise the room was fine. The only criticism I would have of my experience is having to pay for the coffee in the room. It is offered free at every hotel I have ever stayed at.

As a Royal Ambassador, I have stayed at many InterContinental Hotels and have enjoyed my experiences in many of them. The most memorable feature of this hotel was the live Jazz band located just off of the lobby. They can be heard from the main floors and the talent level is outstanding. This band was the main reason that I had returned to this hotel for another visit within the same year.

I have stayed at this hotel before.
Now that it is being remodeled while they overcharge the guests, it is a very poor value.
While in the fitness room it filled up with smoke so bad we could not see to get out. When mentioned to staff, just the answer, no se!!
Constant construction noise even in the highest rooms.
Beter values near by for some time to come.

Upon arrival I was given a key to my room. When I arrived there were suitcases sitting in my room. It took the hotel staff over 15 minutes to figure out what was going on. A few of those traveling with me, who had other rooms complained of similar room mix ups. The first night there Nov 14 was horrendous. All night long there was some kind of loud party going on outside. No earplugs or change of room was offered.
Other than that things went somewhat smoothly.

The location of the hotel was perfect for me and I got a room with a very nice view (thank you Sebastian!). The check-in and check-out went well, but overall experience was not what I expect from IC especially as Platinum and Ambassador. The airport pick-up was made with the old car, I was really suspicious considering extremely high price. The hotel room was in a very bad shape: holes in furniture, sprinkler hanging down - needs urgently renovation. However the room was clean, that is the most important.
The full points for helpful staff. They are the real value for this hotel! I wait for renovation to be completed and come back after that, not before.

The view from your window captures in a single glance the incredible city and all that it can offer. It's understandable why so many political figures chose this hotel...but the great thing is that us commoners can experience the same view and get treated equally as important. So go and enjoy!
