It was so wonderful to choose this hotel and stay there. This was my 4th visiting of SF,but I had never stayed such a nice hotel. The room is nice and beautiful with a great SF view.
The service was also excellent. I'll never forget this experience. I would love to visit this hotel again and again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by lovetotravel22 Really glad I stayed here!
The beds are extremely comfortable! The room is very clean. Love the organic lotion, shampoo, and conditioner. Excellent food, although pricey, as expected. Room service was good overall, but the room service attendant on our first night did not tell me that the tip was included on the bill and I tipped her twice. The pool was very clean on Sunday, but very dirty on Saturday night. Ask when they clean the pool. Concierge was very helpful and nice and had great ideas for me and my young son. Waiters at restaurant should be a little more on top of refilling my coffee, but overall, they were fine. The location was very good-- a couple of blocks from Market Street. I would definitely stay again and try the Spa Services next time.

As always, it was a perfect stay. First class service along with first class acommodations and excellent room service. When in San Franscisco (four to five times per year), this is my first choice - always.
The 4:00 PM check out (I am Emabassador Member) is a tremedous plus and effectively adds another day to your stay - at no cost.
See you soon.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by tuftonboro63 Nice stay over New Year's.
Stayed here for New Year's 2012-13. The bed is veeeery nice: firm enough for my bad back, but with a comfy pillow top. All the staff we encountered were uniformly polite, cheerful, deferential, and helpful. They acted like they were genuinely glad we stayed here. For me a big plus is that the hotel is within easy walking distance of SF MOMA and several other tourist sites.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by brucebruce0 nice new years eve stay
I booked our room through Intercontinental's website and hoped for (somewhat) preferencial service since everyone uses 3rd party websites. We received a warm greeting and were given room 802. The guy checking us in knew for SURE that this faced directly at the construction across the way and didn't think twice about offering this to my girlfriend and I. I called the concierge and we were moved to room 1902 without a question. The bellman made a comment that they are having a hard time getting people to stay in 802. I understand that the hotel doesn't have control over construction, but this should be the last room you give a guest, not the 1st and wait for complaints.
In a couple words to my girlfriend when we arrived in 802 then moved to 1902..."I'm not surprised, I'm just disappointed."
Once in 1902, everything was fine. Everything else about the hotel was great. Valet was $52 and takes about 10 minutes to get your car, which is in line with SF.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by SanFrancisco Lost and Found
Hotel was clean and the location was good, but I kind of have a feeling that hotel maids don't keep things that are mistakenly left in the hotel room well. I mistakenly left something in the refrigerator which is not a great value but a something meaningful because we bought this at a local market in San Francisco. It was only six hours after the checkout that we found that we have left the thing in the refrigerator. I asked the front desk about the lost items but the only reply that I got was the hotel maids did not find anything. Moreover, the front desk told me they couldn't get into the room because new customer already checked in to the room that we used. The hotel could at least called the room, or if the new customers were not in the room they could have gone into the room to look for it. It doesn't make sense that the hotel cannot get into the room because the room is already occupied by a new customre, then how could hotel maids can get into the room for cleaning when the customer is not in the room? It makes me to think that the hotel maids had taken the thing somewhere else, or the hotel did not make efforts to find the thing for us. The hotel should educate the hotel maids that if something does not belong to the hotel, they should keep the stuffs at least two or three days so that the customers can find what they have mistakenly left in the hotel. Thank you very much.

This was our 2nd weekend getaway to Intercontinental SF this year. We brought along the boys this time. The room was prepared with extra towels and necessitites for 4 people, no need to ask. The indoor swimming pool was a great treat for the boys. This hotel is ideally located next to great shopping, Yuerba Buena Gardens, and all the action downtown. Great place for a holiday getaway.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nicolas75flyertalk A very solid and comfortable business hotel, but with the lack of the luxury touch
The one bedroom suite on high floor is around 67 sqm.
Living room with seating area, closet, separate toilets.
Bedroom with very comfortable bed.
Huge bathroom with bathtub (surprisingly standard where you may expect Boffi like), walk-in shower. Aromatherapy Associates amenities. Frette bathrobe. Television set in the bathroom.
The décor is quite elegant. Still, the corporate design lacks of luxury feeling and already shows its age (furniture scratched, bleach stain on the carpet).
Large flatscreen television, with quite large selection of cable and international channels. Coffee machine. Kettle. Ipod station.
Quiet, but the elevator machines can be heard from the room (as well as neighbours when they are speaking very loudly).
Nice view over the bay and the city (and part of Golden Gate bridge).
Fast wifi (and no need to login several times).
The club lounge offers very good breakfast and evening selection.
Very nice staff.
Magazines, papers, PCs with printer.
Guests of the hotel are more business oriented, and they can act very rudely in the lounge (very loud phone conversation - even sometime with speaker on-, television loudly heard, etc.).
•Central location even if not as exclusive as Nob Hill
•Nice indoor pool (but with no indoor relax area)
•Club lounge which can be very noisy
•Less luxury/exclusive feeling than some other hotels in SF
•Hotel is supposed to be sustainable and green, but there is no way to switch off all the lamps in one when leaving the room.
•Ambassador amenities were 3 apples and... a small cup of peanuts . A kind of disgrace for a (luxury) hotel which is supposed to have a Michelin starred chef (the property should take example on some hotels which offer delicious amenities made by the chef, and is a very smart invitation to run to the gastronomic restaurant).
•There are some construction works next to the hotel, which can be very noisy (more particularly for rooms on lower floor facing the Moscone Center West)

We decided to go to San Francisco for a long weekend and "settled" on the Intercontinental at 888 Howard to give it a try. What could it hurt? Well, it's ruined me on settling for "okay" stays because this hotel is fantastic.
From the Bar Staff (some of the best anywhere) to the concierge (Nelson I beleieve) to all the people at check in, these people spoil you.
We will be back.

We had 2 events in October.
Arrangement was perfect and we thank for the great service.
I checked out with all the payments on the last day of event. But,at the end of November,I have received the additional invoices which have been forgotten in the previous invoice without any explanation.
In addition to the above experiences, I was not comfortable with the hotel's e-mail correspondence which was sometimes neglected or slow response and uncourteous to the customer.

The overall experience was amazing. Most of the staff was stellar. I had difficulties daily, however, with the front desk. I was billed incorrectly, and had to check in daily for my three night stay (11/26-11/28. It seemed the staff was inexperienced and unable to process my stay properly. They also had trouble crediting my preferred member number. I interacted with 4 different desk staff and they all had difficulties (two cited that the trouble was due to the computer freezing). Even in filling out this review, they have the wrong check-out date tied to my information. They were friendly and professional, but could not run the computers. ALL other staff were amazing. Even the cleaning ladies. I look forward to staying there again. i hope that they get a little more training first, however.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by s13cybergal Excellent room, food and service, even helping me with my in-room TV.
This was my 1st 4-star, gourmet food hotel. I truly fell in love with their attitude and level of service. Food at Luce is worth the price, very rich and beautifully presented. The pool and hot tub are both exceptionally well maintained and sparkling clean.
I have several disabilities. I am almost blind and need to use a walker. On the phone my questions were politely answered. I would have no stairs to worry about to get to the spa area.
The room is full of gadgets. The coffee maker makes great coffee, with no mess or hassle. I did have difficulty seeing the menus on my TV. I really wanted to watch a specific movie. I figured they probably wouldn't have the staffing to help me, but I inquired anyway.
Not only did they send a tech-savvy gentleman up to help me, but he took about 20 minutes helping me find a movie!
I am already saving up for next year - for a longer vacation.

I have to say that after being a PC member for a long time now, this was by far the best stay ever. Upon arrival my check-in was speedy. My room was ready and had a nice letter from the General Manager. The view was awesome! Having access to the club lounge was very nice. There was great snack food and drinks. It was walking distance to some great restaurants. Kind of far from attractions. It was in more of a commercial / industrial area, but still a beautiful hotel.

From the warm reception at check-in to our, very early, morning departure, we found the staff to be friendly, efficient and knowledgeable.
In particular, the Concierge staff is among the very best we've experienced. They took a genuine interest in our requests and did everything possible to see to it that they were able to meet and even exceed our expectations.
We were in a corner room on a high floor and the view was nothing short of spectacular.
When visiting San Francisco, thinking of the San Francisco Intercontinental Hotel would be a smart move.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by MM12345 Inferior standard compared to other Intercontinental locations
The Hotel in in the vicinity of construction yards. I asked the concierge beforehand for a room with a nice view because we are thinking of moving to San Francisco. We got a room with a view to a construction site which was incredibly loud. I asked the front desk for a quieter room. The next room then was located behind the elevators and it was even louder. We were barely able to sleep for two nights. We checked out early and moved to another Hotel which was much better.
Breakfast had a normal standard. I expected something better, as in the Intercontinental in Beijing or Berlin. Staff was lukewarm friendly, but disinterested and one is always under the impression that they were talking behind one's back.

No. I do not work for Intercontinental ! As a constant traveler for work and pleasure around the globe I have stayed at the many wonderful hotels of this top chain and I am also a Priority Club Platinum/Ambassador Member of Intercontinental. I am just finishing up my 6th stay at the exemplary San Francisco member of this chain. I have always loved this hotel as I must visit San Francisco often, I have not stayed at another Hotel since the opening of this Intercontinental a few years back. This trip proved to be one of the best. The hotel has hired some fresh new faces and a number really go the extra distance that makes you feel rewarded for your loyalty. The staff in general is great but I must mention Regina who works in 'Guest Relations' . When I contacted her about needing some help, she went above and beyond and is quite the ambassador in keeping with what I call the 'Intercontinental Experience' I expect to see her rise in this organization over the years. Chloe at Reception and that wonderful concierge staff were terrific. I stayed on the top club floor and my room was just perfect. I had been upgraded to a room with an amazing view of the bay and the room itself was what I would expect of this hotel. The room and bathroom are top-of-the-line in comfort, luxury and it shined from being so clean and for the care that is obvious in the upkeep of the room ( An important point that other big chains should take note). Modern, spacious bathroom with separate area for bathing or taking a shower and very nice amenities! The Flat-screen TV and large closets and all the perks of being a Priority member really makes you feel pampered. This chain is known for its amazing beds but the one in my room here in SF was unreal. So comfortable that I was asleep in two seconds every night. A top standout for this hotel (besides the Michelin star restaurant) is the amazing Club room. In my opinion, and Ive been in many, this might be the best in the U.S. (Le Grand in Paris is still my favorite because of the view of the Opera and the 'Pommery Champagne') The staff are friendly yet there for anything you desire. I find them to be very thoughtful which is an added bonus. The views and the room itself is 'Tops' and from the wonderful breakfast all the way to late night brandies and special spirits along with wonderful appetizers and desserts, you just have to accept the fact that you will be hitting the gym when returning home. I actually love the fitness center, pool and 'top SF rated spa' at the hotel and always make use of all three With all that I have mentioned above, you might understand why I use the phrase 'The Intercontinental Experience' .
At this hotel, it is a 5* plus experience. As always, I will be back.

I don't travel much. Part of the reason why I don't is that lodging is almost invariably a utilitarian, warehousing experience where at best I am safe from the elements with a modest degree of comfort. I return to my home ready for some rest and respite. At the San Francisco Intercontinental on Howard Street, however, I was made to feel welcome and valued by every single person on the staff I encountered (directly and indirectly), the accommodations were thoughtfully arranged and furnished, and my wife and I were made to feel like special guests as individuals, not just two more (or ONE more) room occupants. Our three-night stay was, in other words, flawless and pleasurable. Thank you.

I stayed with my wife at recent conference. The hotel was only a few minutes walk from conference centre and very well equiped. We stayed in one of the rooms on 27th floor and had a wonderful view of the city by day and night.
The staff were helpful and the business centre was useful to get papers ready for the meeting.

An absolutely wonderful stay in a great, solid San Francisco hotel.
Outstanding service from professional and polite employees who know what they are doing. From the moment you walk through the door till the moment you leave, the service is impeccable.
On my two recent stays, accommodation was a Junior Suite for 2 nights, followed by the next stay being a One Bedroom Suite for 2 nights on the second stay. Accommodation is modern, comfortable and well maintained. Very comfortable beds and plenty of storage space.
Club Intercontinental Lounge is one of the better ones available with a very generous offering, staffed by friendly and professional people who are only too happy to help.
Yes, the neighbourhood may be not ideal for some, however, the vast majority of people will be walking from Market Street for Powell Street Station, too and from the hotel. Some of the streets near the hotel are not the best, however, as with any large city, don't go wandering around them at night or with your diamonds around your neck and you will be fine.
Can't wait to return.
