Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Memorable Experience Whilst normally people write to you to complain, my wife and I want to take the opportunity to thank you for a wonderful stay that we had at your hotel. We have enjoyed tremendously the facilities and the service of all your people. There is no doubt, that you will see us soon again at the InterContinental Wien. I particularly wish to compliment your Club Concierge; I have rarely met such a pleasant, proficient and efficient person who had patience and understanding also for other hotel guests and which has certainly added to our pleasant stay. 05 August 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Service at Breakfast Restaurant Severely Lacking! The breakfast at the Hotel Vienna Intercontinental was not a warm experience. Staff don't help you with coffee unless asked. Food was good but service at this breakfast restaurant was so severely lacking that we decided to have breakfast simply at the Executive Lounge. 31 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The best hotel in Vienna Simply the best hotel in Vienna. Friendly, competent and very professional staff with a welcoming smile every time you arrive. Excellent gym Superb lounge with the best views of the Viennese skyline. A breakfast buffet that excels on both quality and quantity. Central location and in easy walking distance to the city center. Directly next to the city park and the underground system. In house restaurants and bars with beautiful, classical Viennese charm All in all, the best hotel in Vienna and easily among the best InterContinental in Europe if not the world. 15 July 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Responsive Service, Comfortable Room, Nice View, Excellent Buffet Breakfast We had a very pleasant stay at the InterContinental Wien. The room was comfortable, with good amenities. The staff - housekeeping, concierge, front-desk, lobby bar - were responsive and polite. The buffet breakfast had an excellent spread, although the restaurant could benefit from having more service staff. The lobby bar is spacious, welcoming, with separate coffee and alcoholic counters to serve different needs. The lobby is large, and there are sufficient elevators. We had an excellent view from our room, overlooking the park. The location is SO convenient, a short walk to many attractions, downtown shopping street, and opposite the train station. Overall, very nice experience! 14 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by New home After our marriage, my wife (born in Vienna) and me have jused the same hotel in Vienna for 30 years. When we learned that it was closed, we were in distress. But after our first visit to The Intercontinental, we were extremely happy again. We stayed in a beautifull room on the 12th floor and used the executive room as a kind of living room to receive relatives and (one) business relation. And also we used it for breakfast, reading and socializing. It was a more than pleasant stay. We were happy that we have found a new home in Vienna. We will come again and again. 12 July 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dissapointing We're Royal Ambassador members and have been staying at the property several times a year for many years for leisure. We have always mostly enjoyed our stays until now and just completed a 3 nights stay. Sadly some of the long-term irritations persist and have got worst. As a previous poster, our taxi wasn't greeted at the hotel entrance, and we carried our own luggage up the stairs and as it happened my wife hurt herself doing so. It's my impression that there are less porters than before. The check in on arrival in the lounge was poor and no real personal recognition of our loyalty just a cut and paste unsigned letter in the suite. The main gripe is the Club Lounge where the cost-cutting has been so severe it makes it unattractive. The food was always been mean and poor before – rather silly spoons with minuscule raw dried fish cubes and mean cold snacks and rather uncoordinated bizarre hot snacks that are nearly always cold or luke warm. I had seen the manager inspect on one evening – but we never actually saw him taste the food. Luke warm food is unsafe food. Even at breakfast the hot buffet choice was only two items ie cold frankfurters and cold scrambled egg. It seems that the food doesn't arrive hot but is warmed in the bain marie. Published times were rarely met. For example there was no hot water for tea at breakfast and staff attempted to make tea with tepid water. When foodstuffs disappeared they were not replenished. On one morning my wife came up to find no rolls or muesli and nothing in the hot cabinet. She didn't want to go to the main restaurant so I took her out for breakfast. Royal Ambassador members can choose to have breakfast either in the suites/rooms or main restaurant but that isn't the point. Also, less money is spent on liquid refreshment with a rather cheap and undrinkable Gruner Veltliner and a single alcoholic cheap beer rather than the enjoyable Gosser previously offered. Twinings tea has been replaced by a cheaper tea. Even the Mozart Balls have been downgraded! The other issue which the management are fully aware of is that the lounge is used by some families as a child minding service so they go off and leave the children who regularly run amok in the lounge, fingering the food and making lot's of noise and spend all day playing games on the computers so that other users cannot use them. Even when they are with their children no control is exercised. This means that the lounge often not a pleasant environment. They should basically make a few simple rules that other ICs find acceptable ie no unaccompanied minors in the lounge at any time; computers not to be used by children at all and only used by adults for email and making travel arrangements ie not sitting for 3 hours watching feature films and just like IC Singapore a completely child-free environment ie no children from Happy Hour onwards with separate provision made elsewhere for families with children to create a proper Club Lounge ambience. And if you offer special check in in the lounge have more than one computer so that arrivals don't have to wait to check in. The Royal Ambassador “gift” was a half bottle of wine – which RA's can take from the mini-bar for free anyway and an individual chocolate cake. There was virtually no TV for Brits - just BBC news. Thankfully we bought our own ipad connected to our home based slingbox. The combined staffing reduction in the lounge with less experienced although enthusiastic staff made the lounge a complete waste of time. On the positive side staff are enthusiastic even though it felt most were inexperienced and under-trained. However at the moment we do not plan to return because the issues we encounter are more important to us than simply value. I have only posted these comments here because I have brought these issues to the hotel's management many times before and they remain unresolved and are now worst – staff tell me that management knows - and public reviews seems to be more of a motivator than direct feedback from a Royal Ambassador member. It's disappointing to write this way - about a hotel we have known and loved for years. 11 July 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Breakfast As an Ambassador I only stay in Intercontinental Hotels worldwide. Even I live in Vienna I stayed with my wife in this hotel as my daughter had a party at home and wanted us out of the house. We were very excited about the breakfast the next morning. We got very dissapointed immediately as they charged us 32 EUR per Person for the breakfast which is way too much. The cold cut is very cheap meat. No high quality ham, salami or bacon. Below the plate on the table there was a paper (!) with Intercontinental adds. It looked like a fast food restaurant. All in all my wife and I agreed that this breakfast is worth not more than maximum 10-15 EUR. If you have the chance to stay there once do not have breakfast in the hotel but just go out across the street and chose a local bakery shop like Anker, Mann or Stroeck. There the breakfast is about 6-8 EUR per person and it will be much better. 07 July 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good BUT..... In general, the hotel is good but it lacks some services such as a swimming pool. In addition, I'm a elite gold member of the IHG and as such, I'm eligible for free internet during my stay but I was asked to pay for it even after explaining my point of view. 05 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always great service & attention I travel to VIE every month for business & have been staying at the Interconti for years. It's my "home away from home" in VIE. Many of the staff have been there for years & I'm' always greeted warmly by name.. Thanks to all for a pleasant welcoming experience. 24 June 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel, Wonderful Staff We stayed at the Vienna Intercontinental beginning of June. Loved the hotel. It was close to everything we wanted to see. We love walking rather than public transportation and taxis and we walked everywhere. The Metro is right in front of the hotel with a beautiful park behind it. Our room was spacious and the breakfast buffet was fabulous. The staff, from the front desk to the restaurant to the concierge were great. They have one of the most knowledgeable concieregs (Thomas) of any hotel we have been to. We will definitely go back to the Intercontinental next time we are in Vienna. 14 June 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great service I enjoyed my stay in this hotel, the service was excellent. 14 June 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Everything you expect Everything you expect from a very large, well staffed and well appointed hotel. Staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. We stayed for leisure and also knew the city well, but it was obvious that a wide range of services was on hand to help every kind of visitor. Location of hotel immediately opposite metro station and one stop from the city-airport terminal is an additional benefit. Quality of hotel catering was very high. 07 June 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by One of Intercontinental's Best! Although we have stayed in many Intercontinental Hotels in various parts of the world, this has to be one of the best. The service throughout the hotel, the cleanliness and comfort, especially in the bedrooms, were outstanding and we could not have been made to feel more like valued guests. The hotel is very well located near the Stadtpark and in walking distance to the various museums and cultural activities. The concierge service is outstanding and ensured we made the most of each and every day. Although one might be disappointed by the outside look of the hotel, the interior is of a very high standard. We highly recommend. 30 May 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet & Great location Nice hotel, overlooking Park & close to major attractions. Concierge was helpful with advice & booking city tours. A voucher for a free drink at the bar would have been nice. 28 May 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Concierge outstanding This hotel is physically quite nice. The best part was the staff who were always helpful and friendly. The concierge staff was exceptional. On the negative side, breakfast there was quite costly and we chose to eat elsewhere. Also, I believe that wifi internet usage should not be an additional charge 28 May 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Long Weekend My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time in Vienna and staying at the Intercontinental. The property is in great shape with everything we were looking for. We appreciated the wonderful check in experience and help from the staff. Some of our best memories are interacting with our friends in the bar. Helping me practice my Deutsch and helping my girlfrined with some English! Wonderful cheeseburgers Sunday mnorning after the Andre' Rieu concert Saturday night! Thank you for a wonderful weekend. 25 May 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Front Desk Staff Your front desk staff is the first point of contact for any guest to your hotel. I think they did an excellent job. Thank you for making my short stay in Vienna a memorable one! 24 May 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by consistently good I have stayed here many times and have NEVER been disappointed. A welcome situation when you are traveling ! 21 May 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great staff and service Intercontinental Vienna was our third Intercontinental hotel that we stayed in during our spring holiday in Europe and from the moment we checked in till we checked out, we encountered friendly, efficient and experienced staff. Apart from the very comfortable room, the high quality that we had come to expect from an intercontinental hotel, I would have to say that the friendly and efficient staff is what makes this Intercontinental hotel stand out from the rest. 19 May 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful hotel, perfectly located in the city Very kind and helpful staff. Beautiful room. I warmly recommend this hotel whether for business or leisure. 17 May 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A great weekend getaway! We spent three nights in the Vienna Intercontinental this past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Check in was fast and efficient and we were given an upgrade to a suite based on my Ambassador status. The room was a corner room which allowed for a fabulous view. There was a sitting area, a work area and a very comfortable king size bed. Upon calling housekeeping to request hypoallergenic bedding, our beds were changed within 10 minutes- very fast! We spent two evenings in the lobby bar/lounge. The food was great (Wiener Schnitzel, Gulaschsuppe) and a great drink selection. We asked the concierge for some recommendations for dinner and specified that we wanted a good local experience. He came back immediately with two great recommendations and made reservations for us at one of the restaurants. He also made recommendations for places to go the following day for some unique Viennese pastries. Overall great service and everyone seemed eager to help us. 14 May 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel but can be better A good solid hotel but bed is a bit old with significant sagging on one end. Great housekeeping with some going the extra miles. One concern is the lack of flexibility on some part. I had an early flight and requested for a packed breakfast which was not met. Then I asked for a slightly earlier breakfast (~15 mins) but was turned down again. I tried my luck 5 mins to the start of breakfast and yet was turned away when it was obviously that breakfast was ready to be served; the waiter was talking away at the reception. Ended up stuffing my mouth in order to catch my flight. overall was a great stay but the last breakfast just killed the fifth star. 03 May 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Superb location This hotel has an excellent location for a trip to Vienna, whether its business or pleasure. However, the hotel has little to no recognition for Platinum Ambassadors: you do get a welcome letter, a bottle of water, an apple and a little chocolate candy, but thats about it. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the porter. Had to pay for lounge access and internet, the hotel does not upgrade to club floor. Breakfast in the lounge was good, but nothing special. Overall, the hotel is a bit overpriced and there are better hotels and deals in the area. 02 May 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My second home Over the past nine months I have racked up many stays at this hotel. During these stays I've had the great pleasure of getting to know many of the exceptional staff. They have truly gone out of their way to make me feel very welcome; they are like family to me. I am looking forward to the roll out of the new media and entertainment system as well as other planned enhancements. The location is fantastic with excellent views of the city and nearby Stadtpark. The proximity to Mitte station makes for easy connections throughout the area. This is a perfect hotel for business, newly weds or tourists. 04 April 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by once - and never again warm welcome as an ambassador? no room up-grade? yes fresh fruit upon arrival? literally yes - one wizen apple mineral water daily? yes in-room gift? either one piece of chocolate or a mini cake (20 grams) I guess - two gifts single rate for double occupancy? no, 2 persons were charged complimentary newspaper? not in this hotel but - due to the low ceiling height in the bathroom – lots of spots from other guests before us at eye level. and I mean - lots not working light bulb over mirror in the bathroom – replaced within one hour perfect bar staff – friendly and knowledgeable great concierge check out – receptionist calls some body in the back office, informing the person that we are checking out, asking if she wants to come. obviously no desire to say good bye. never do this in front of the guest. Interested about the quality of our stay? – no question asked Recommendation for this hotel? Certainly not 18 March 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by bad service in the restaurant unexperienced personel bad service food very salty 18 March 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Small Room great location The room was small, particularly the bathroom, it may have been fine for Eurpoean standards, but certainly not for Intercontinental standards. Location was simple ideal and the staff knowledgeble and friendly. 14 March 2013
