Arabic coffee

Arabic coffee is a generic name that refers to the way coffee is prepared in many Arab Gulf countries. The best Arabic coffee is made from freshly roasted beans over a charcoal fire and ground in a stone mortar. It has a special coffee pot called dallah, served with the right hand. The serving cups are small with no handles, with only very small portions of coffee poured, covering the bottom of the cup. It is almost always accompanied with dates and offered at most social events like weddings and funerals. Coffee serving is a ceremony. Rules of etiquette on this subject require the hostess to personally hand around the cups where the eldest or the most important person in the room is served first. When you are offered Arabic coffee by your host, do not say no. Once you are finished shake your cup from side to side, this will mean to the person holding the coffee pot that you do not want any more. However, should you want more coffee, all you have to do is hold out your cup to the person who has the coffee pot.

Rated 5,0 out of 5,0 Very nice hotel with great staff and beautiul location I expected the Intercontinental to be nice and I was not disappointed. The staff was friendly and professional. The hotel lobby and community areas are very appealing and very well maintained. The room was comfortable and the room furniture is of good quality. The sheets and duvet were of high quality and very nice. Most of the hotel staff I met were very warm and attentive-- a couple of them were exceptional. In fact, I think it is the best customer service I have received in the middle east. The pool area was great. The beach area (though not huge) has very nice sand and was meticulously clean. The beach furniture was the most comfortable I have found and the cushions looked like new. I am living in Jordan and have had the opportunity to travel to many hotel resorts on the Red Sea in Jordan, Egypt and Israel and I think this is the best overall resort I have stayed at in the last five years. I will be going back regularly and would recommend it highly. The hotel security was very good. Now let me mention a few of minor issues; I did not sleep well because the doors have an automatic closer and they close rather loudly. I was awakened several times during the night by doors slamming shut. Another minor issue is beer is quite expensive. There was a lot of noise on the beach from boats playing loud music and jet skis screaming back and forth. For the quality and luxury of this hotel it is a solid value. In summary this is the best overall resort I have stayed at in the Red Sea area. No place is perfect but this is pretty close. 9 de diciembre de 2014

Rated 4,0 out of 5,0 by A lovely view, and attentive staff We enjoyed our first stay at the IC Aqaba. Although the room needed a little attention when we arrived (that half-empty bottle in the mini-bar isn't mine, really!) the staff took care of it quickly. Service throughout the hotel was friendly and personal, and the happy hour at the bar had the finest margaritas in Jordan--maybe not a lot of competition, but they were good! We will go there again...and be more careful about bumping into fire coral in the sea...ouch, that stings! 1 de diciembre de 2014
