Amazing stay

In general, I had an amazing stay at Crowne. The facilities are in good condition. Staff are very quick to attend to our requests and the proximity to the mall provided more activities to do while checked in.

1. the check-in is almost one hour on the priority queue, and the front desk made no effort to accelerate the process; the joke of the day was Spire member gets to stand on red carpet longer

2. the hotel is old, carpet is smelly

3. Staff are generally friendly, but productivity is not desirable; very proactive in up-selling though.

I had to prove I was a senior citizen???

I stayed at this hotel a total of three times during my most recent visit to the Philippines, using the hotel as my base as I explored other parts of the country. The first stay was fine, but during this stay I was asked to provide proof that I was a senior citizen, as I had booked the senior rate. May I point out that this was the second stay this time using the senior rate, and I had stayed at this property before, in May, using the senior rate. The young lady at reception was quite adamant about my proving my age and I'd like to suggest that MAYBE SHE LEARN HOW TO READ THE FRONT PAGE OF THE PASSPORT THAT I HAD TO PRODUCE AT CHECK IN WHERE MY DATE OF BIRTH IS CLEARLY INDICATED. Yes I know the rules say I have to produce some form of senior citizen id, but I would think my passport would suffice for this purpose. She also had a problem with my request for a King bed, as we were two men staying together. I told her that is what I reserved, had reserved in the past, and would reserve in the future. If you people have some homophobia issues, just let me know and I will stay somewhere else.

When I returned for my third stay, the young lady at reception wanted to give me an upgrade but on a lower floor. I said no thanks, I always preferred a higher floor, but she told me nothing was available. I had made the reservation 2 months in advance, and requested that she find a room to fulfill my reservation. She found a room, where the door never closed unless I pulled it shut, and no bathrobes were available (I had to ask for them)

Let me point out that I am retired, I am not a fussy businessman who has to have everything his way, and I truly enjoy staying at Crowne Plaza Hotels. Everyone working in the hotels are generally pleasant, efficient and courteous. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the restaurants fine. But I did expect better this time around. I've been an IHG rewards member for years, consider myself a loyal customer, and always look to your hotels first when making travel plans. You can do better.

The facility especially in the guest house should be upgraded. The shuttle to the airport are good. The breakfast is excellent providing decent coffee and noodles. The 7*24 GYM is so excellent.

Something to improve moving forward

This is a one of a class hotel having the ambiance, the room and the services offered. But, I got this list below that I believe can be improved:
1. It took us more than 1 hour standing waiting until we checked in.30 mins can be tolerable but standing more than an hour can be irritating.
2. Elevator speed hopefully can be more impressive since we are one of the classy hotel in manila.
3. More couches for guests waiting for check in please.
