A 20-minute walk from the hotel, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is an outstanding example of Glasgow's rich Victorian architecture. An imposing, red sandstone, Spanish baroque-style building, it houses international art and natural history collections. Its multiple galleries feature interactive displays.

On the opposite bank of the River Clyde, a five-minute walk from the hotel across Bell’s Bridge, is the Glasgow Science Centre. It occupies three gleaming titanium buildings: the 127-metre high Glasgow Tower, an IMAX cinema and the crescent-shaped Science Mall. The latter houses three floors of interactive exhibits, as well as a state-of-the-art planetarium.

The SSE Hydro arena, part of the SEC adjacent to the hotel, is a futuristic-looking venue with a shallow dome roof, that hosts an entertainment programme of international shows and sports events, attracting over a million spectators a year. The upper part of its facade is clad in a translucent material that allows daylight in and the front of the building to glow after dark.

Make sure you try some of Scotland's malt whisky on your visit to Glasgow. A 20-minute drive from the hotel, the Auchentoshan Distillery produces Scotland’s only triple-distilled, single malt whisky. A variety of tours reveal the processes involved. The Story of Oak tour explores the influence that different casks have on the flavour of the whisky, as well as the impact of maturation.

From Exhibition Centre station near the hotel, Pollok Country Park is 15 minutes away by train. Glasgow’s largest park, it offers expansive woodlands with walking trails, a walled garden and Highland cattle. The 18th-century Pollok House in the park features lavishly decorated rooms with period furniture and a notable collection of Spanish art, including paintings by El Greco and Goya.
