Originally a cathedral in the Gothic style, starting in 1211, the cathedral contains the Great Organ constructed by Charles-Marie Widor. More than one million people visit Notre-Dame Cathedral each year to take part in various religious services and to see its spectacular architecture, artwork and treasures such as the Crown of Thorns.
