The location of the hotel is convenient and close to all the downtown attractions (museum, the bean, sears tower, etc) this was the only reason I decided to stay at this location. However, during check-in, I began to regret my choice of stay. There were two attendants at the front counter helping customers with their check-in when I entered the establishments. The attendant to my right completed her check in with the customer at the counter, looked at me, ignored me, and walk away. I had to wait for another 5 mins for the attendant to my left to complete checking in the customers at her counter for her to assist me. As I approached the counter I was not greeted with a "Hi/Hello" or anything of that sort, just a simple and brut "Name on the reservation and card you will be using for the stay". After checking in, all I wanted to do was just relax and take a nice bubble bath, but that "want" went down the drain after I saw how filthy the bathtub was. It had brown stains on the floor of the bed and seemed as if the tub was not cleaned. Feeling frustrated and annoyed I phoned for housekeeping/ maintenance to come take a look at it. When maintenance (David) arrived he used a washcloth to scrub the stain off, stating that the stains should have been cleaned. I really appreciate David's diligence in attempting to fix the bathtub problem but the stains were still there. With this issue, I finally asked to speak with the manager. Unbeknown to me, that first attendant who looked at me and ignored me earlier during my check-in was the manager Rene. It seems that Rene assumed I was with the gentleman who she helped earlier because of our ethnic similarity. So, I guess just because I and the older man were both of the same ethnic backgrounds she didn't feel the need to ask "If I had been helped" when I stood there for 10mins. However, Rene attempted to rectify my issues by comping my car park fees, and 1-day breakfast for 2. Let us just say Holiday Inn is not what it used to be. You would think as an IHG club member, paying the amount I did per night, and having a room that is supposed to be the "executive room" that the room would hold up to your expectations. Unfortunately, to my dismay, this stay was less of "quality" than expected.
