The Mount Heng (Nanyue), is the Southern Sacred Mountain of China’s Five Great Mountains. A national AAAAA‑level scenic spot and mixed natural‑cultural heritage, its main peak Zhurong Peak reaches 1300.2 meters, reputed as the abode of ancient fire god Zhurong.

Nanyue Grand Temple is dedicated to Zhurong, the god of Mount Heng. Known as “No.1 Temple in South China” and “Palace of the South”, it is the largest ancient palace‑style complex in southern China. A sacred blessing site integrating Confucian, Buddhist and Taoist cultures.

Nanyue Art Museum is a key local cultural venue. It houses the masterpiece Splendid Hunan‑Seventy‑two Peaks of Mount Heng. It regularly displays paintings reflecting local landscapes and culture.

China’s first Mars‑themed popular‑science venue integrates Nanyue Zhurong fire culture with Chinese space technology. It features two exhibition halls: Earth Departure and Mars Homeland, a life‑size Tianhe Core Module replica, real space exhibits and immersive Mars‑themed interactions. An immersive Republican‑era performing‑arts block with 1:1 reproduction of 1940s “Little Shanghai” streetscape of Hengyang.
