The University of Wyoming is a vibrant and dynamic institution that offers something for everyone. In addition to its academic offerings, the University of Wyoming is also known for its strong athletic programs. The university's teams, known as the Cowboys and Cowgirls, compete in the NCAA Division I Mountain West Conference.

The Laramie Railroad Depot was built in 1924 to replace the town's original Union Pacific Depot/Hotel that was destroyed by fire in 1917. It served as Laramie's Union Pacific passenger depot until 1971 and as an Amtrak depot until 1983. In 1985, the Union Pacific Railroad gave the Depot to the Laramie Plains Museum. The Depot is the only remaining building left from the once large Union Pacific presence in Laramie and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The University of Wyoming Geological Museum in Laramie supports academic programs, scientific research and public education. It is overseen by the Department of Geology and Geophysics in the College of Arts and Sciences. The UW Geological Museum features a variety of displays to illustrate Wyoming's past environments, highlighted by a 75-foot Apatosaurus (Brontosaurus) skeleton that dominates the museum's exhibit hall.

LaBonte Park has a variety of amenities for people of all ages. From a skate park to soccer fields, picnic shelters and community gardens, the park functions as a great place for the community to enjoy the outdoors and each other.

But why Lincoln? Why here? Wyoming didn't even exist as a territory when Lincoln was around. The big head began as a vague idea by the Wyoming Parks Commission, which wanted to celebrate Lincoln's 150th birthday in 1959. As a justification, it cited the Pacific Railway Act of 1862, which Lincoln signed into law, and which later ran the transcontinental railroad through what was later named Wyoming.

Hutton Lake National Wildlife Refuge has diverse habitats for you to explore, including open-water wetlands, upland brush and grasslands, and alkali flats.

Step back in time at the Wyoming Territorial Prison, a historic site where infamous outlaws like Butch Cassidy were once incarcerated.
