No stay in the area is complete without visiting Windsor Castle, just a 15-minute drive from the hotel. Take a free Precinct Tour with one of the castle’s wardens, admire St George's Chapel and peek into the State Apartments. The castle is a working royal palace and the Queen spends her weekends here, so check opening hours before you go. Hotel staff will be happy to help.

Feel the Force and take the family to see the Star Wars Miniland display at Legoland Windsor Resort. Although in a galaxy far, far away, it's only a 25-minute drive from the hotel. With seven scenes and 12 main characters from the films – from Yoda to Princess Leia – the display will thrill young and old. There are 39 Ewoks in the Return of the Jedi scene: can you spot them all?

A day out with the kids? Head to Swinley Forest in Bracknell, just a 35-minute drive from the hotel. Go Ape is a wild adventure for all the family. Fly through the forest along zip-wires, leap off the Tarzan swings and enjoy the views from the treetops. And for hands-on fun with science and nature, there's the nearby Look Out Discovery Centre. Make a day of it and have a picnic in the forest.

Want to visit London? You can take bus 78 or the Heathrow Hotel Hoppa shuttle bus from the hotel to Heathrow Airport. There, take the Heathrow Express or Piccadilly Tube line direct to the city centre. Alternatively, trains run direct from Slough station – a 12-minute drive away – to London Paddington station.
