We had a beautiful refurbished room in this perfectly located hotel. During our stay they were upgrading the foyer area so didn’t get to see the finished design but it was starting to look lovely.
Would return and recommend
Never Staying Here Again

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had at a Kimpton property. The front desk staff were quite rude and unprofessional. I left my luggage with them for storage, but they lost it and it took over an hour for them to find it. I also forgot a jacket in my room and called to ask if they could look for it. I was told by corporate that “I see that it has been forwarded to the hotel and Moses Robles, one of the hotel managers, informed that they already reached out to you regarding the item left.” This was a lie — no one ever contacted me. When I called back three days later, they just said they had “been busy.” Overall, no one seemed to care, and it was really frustrating to be treated so poorly and lied to. I would not recommend staying here.

This hotel charges a high Guest Amenity fee but I was not informed properly about how it works. What a waste. I missed out on the credits for food or beverages.

Beautiful room but need a more informative staff. We were tired and had to go back and forth to the lobby more than once to get to our assigned room. The staff was very kind but just very new to the job.

Excellent location and just a fantastic hotel overall. One of the many reasons when traveling for work and pleasure I stay at an IHG hotel. I highly recommend and the fact that I there's plenty others, none can closely compare.

I’ve stay at the Monaco hotel before all the remodeling. I know they haven’t finished but as fare as I can see they have stripped it of it’s charm! The location is the Monaco’s best trait. Just one block from a light rail station.

I just feel pain over $400 to stay plus paying $75 for ballet parking just because the hotel itself has no parking for the guest I don't feel that's right but most hotels in Seattle they do that not all of them
Not worth the money.

Location was the only positive for this stay. Staff was slow, unresponsive, and unaware. They guarded the complimentary waters and bath towels like they were made of gold.
Not ready for guests, Still needs work

“Disappointing Stay During Major Renovation — Needs Serious Attention”
This property is currently undergoing significant renovations, and unfortunately, the guest experience suffers greatly. While I understand that upgrades can improve a hotel long-term, the current state feels more like a construction site than a functioning hotel.
⸻
Arrival & Lobby:
When we arrived, the hotel had no front doors — completely open to the outside. The front desk consisted of a temporary kiosk off to the side, as the main reception area hadn’t been built. The lobby was cluttered, the fireplace torn apart, and a makeshift wall had been erected to hang a few pieces of art and house the water/coffee station. It felt like lipstick on a pig — an attempt at normalcy in an otherwise chaotic environment.
⸻
Hallways & Rooms:
The 9th floor had new flooring, one of the few visible upgrades. However, the room doors were clearly original and had not been adjusted after the thick carpeting was removed. There was a massive gap under our door — large enough for my wife to fit her entire hand through. If you’re sensitive to light or sound while sleeping, beware: hallway light floods into the room, and every noise is amplified. I had to roll up a towel to block the gap just to sleep.
The wallpaper appeared fresh, and the outlet covers had been replaced, but the actual receptacles were original — likely from a time when in-room smoking was permitted. They looked outdated and out of place.
⸻
Room Comfort:
Every time a neighboring door closed, ours rattled — sounding like someone was trying to enter. I had to wedge a washcloth into the door frame to silence it.
The air conditioner shuts off when the room is unoccupied, which we were not informed of. After a day out exploring, we returned to a hot, stuffy room. When we asked about it, the staff offered us a box fan, which helped with the noise — a strangely fitting solution for a room priced at over $500 per night.
There was no sofa, only one chair and an awkward bench near the door that seemed more decorative than functional.
⸻
Linens & Towels:
The bed was incorrectly made — the duvet was placed under the top sheet, which is not standard practice and suggests inadequate staff training. Both the duvet and the sheets had visible stains.
The towels smelled of burnt fabric or mildew, were stuffed under the vanity, and it was difficult to tell which towel was meant for what. We were also short on washcloths.
⸻
Staffing:
It was evident that most of the staff were new. One employee told us it was their first night on the job, and the team member who assisted us at checkout had only been there a few days. While everyone was courteous, the lack of experience was clear.
Big thanks to Leslie and Saffron, who did their best to address the issues. They offered a 50% discount, which seemed fair under the circumstances.
⸻
Overall:
This hotel is not ready to receive guests at full price. Renovations are fine — even welcome — but they require transparency, price adjustments, and basic standards of service in the meantime. As it stands, it feels like management is attempting to operate business-as-usual in a space that is far from it.
I genuinely hope they get things back on track, but until then, I cannot recommend staying here. If anyone is interested in photos and videos please let me know.

Really disappointed with this stay... especially for the value. We usually stay at Kimptons and have great experiences, but this one completely missed the mark.
You overcharged us $120 for parking and never sent a receipt. I had to chase down with multiple emails (no response), then finally call. Mistakes happen and we still waiting for credit , but this was just the beginning.
The room and lobby had zero ambiance. It looked unfinished and bland.
The light sensors were maddening. The bathroom lights would turn off every 45 seconds (almost impossible trying to take a shower having to stop every 45 seconds to put arm out and wave around to activate the light again), and the hallway light sensor would turn on during the night when we moved over in bed.
The valet situation was unprofessional at best. No one greeted us. No help unloading. We stood there while the staff chatted. Brought this up to the front desk and they offered free breakfast... which we couldn't use because of an early departure.
Overall, very disappointed.
Overall Nice Stay

Overall we had a great stay. We knew when we reserved the room that the hotel was under renovation so that was not a surprise when we arrived, and for the most part it did not bother us. With that being said, we stayed one night and in the morning the elevator wasn't working properly and they did not have any signage indicating that the elevator call buttons weren't working. So we could hear the elevator running, but the call button would just flash when we pushed it then go out. After a while we took the stairs. It is unlikely that the same situation will happen again, but it was a bit of an inconvenient hike down first thing in the morning. The staff at check in were great. Location is fantastic. We ended up walking from Kings Station to the hotel and it was a nice walk through the Pioneer neighborhood, about a 20 min walk. Pike's Place Market is less than a 5 min walk away. We spent a lot of time at the waterfront. We took the train to the airport in the morning and the train station was a 5 min walk away. I would recommend this place, and it will be a must stay once all the construction is done.
