If you are a fan of the artistic styling, then this is the hotel for you. The lobby itself was breathe taking. This historic theme hotel was he most relaxing, comforting hotel I have ever been to. The guest was friendly and polite, the dining was absolutely amazing. The room was very cozy, and the noise level was top tier. No complaints from me. The location was perfect because everything was walking distance from the downtown area for sightseeing. This was my second time staying at one of these locations, my first one was in Miami and that was amazing. I am definitely booking the Kimpton whenever I am in the DC area.

Hotel is lovely, wonderfully located to the National Mall and all attractions.
On-site restaurant and bar is very good.
A beautiful hotel with wonderful decor that is 5 star quality.
Decor and design is excellent for social media posting.

Location, location, location!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel had character, staff were fabulous and you can’t beat the location. Many dining options in the vicinity. Metro located across the street. Local attractions easily accessible.

Most disappointing stay of the year

At check in just after 5p the front desk clerk just handed me the keys with almost no other communication and sent me on my way. Absolutely no mention of of the virtually windowless nature of the room, a detail that for any of the other about 30 hotel stays for me this year alone would have prompted a comment from the front desk at check in. As I arrived in the room the bellman was busy unloading the luggage as I had to attend to our overheated dog with outside temperatures in the nineties. After getting him settled I found that one of the drawn curtains had no window and the other one was 9’ up with a 2-3’ recess measuring 1’x2’ with no appreciable daylight! One of three or less rooms in the entire hotel offered as a King Premium!! Trying to call the front desk I find the phones don’t work and no cell reception. The room is definitely smaller than the 350 sqft in the online description! Walking back to the front desk there are now 5 parties in front of me and the clerk was completely unsympathetic! He offered to switch said all the others are like this one. A walk around the hotel proves that incorrect.After the maintenance person came to “fix” the phones there is now a dial tone but static so bad the hotel operator could not understand me. The AC control is hanging on a Velcro tab with only on or off working. While searching for power outlets (two in the room!) I found dead cockroaches under the nightstand and the desk. Historic building or not, I have never experienced a room like this even staying in medieval castles and historic 200 years old villas. It is a better broom closet. This should have been fully disclosed at check-in! A conversation with the hotel manager the next day was similarly unsatisfactory. No switch possible until late in the day and we would have had to vacate before switching. He offered a generous rewards point bonus, but even 10 days later that did not materialize. When asking for at least late check out only one hour was offered. So much for a nice weekend in DC. The other DC Kimpton hotels gave us better experience, service and value. Overall a poorly run hotel which we had chosen for its dog friendly advertising, but none of that came true! A direct request at checkout for a follow up contact during the week was ignored. If this feed back is only processed by a chat bot I may get more of a response to a photo post on TripAdvisor…

Great location and excellent staff

Hotel is in a great location on 7th, which has the metro directly across the street, lots of restaurants, and only blocks from the mall. The staff is fantastic and very helpful - they really seemed to enjoy being there. The food and the workers in the restaurant was so good I wish I could give them 11 stars. The historic hotel has a lot of old charm, but isn't run down and has been excellently renovated with new amenities while keeping the historic look and feel.
This was the perfect hotel for our stay.

Like Boutique DMV Property

I've never known IHG to be impersonal and just another checking in client until I did here in this property. It dedinitely feels like in DMV. Also got acknowledgement of my membership only after I asked. No smile, just DMV style. Recommend that this property learn a little bit of IHG culture that is known around the world, here in America, Asia, Australia and anywhere I've been through IHG Hotels & Resorts.

This hotel is well maintained, has friendly staff and a great bar/restaurant!! I would gladly recommend this hotel to family, friends and co-workers. Location was very convenient to the areas I needed to visit during my stay!

The Kimpton Monaco in Washington, D.C. is a beautiful experience, and my wife and I would recommend it without hesitation to anyone who asks. Helpful, friendly staff are eager to respond if you have any questions about the hotel or D.C. in general. The room in which we stayed was clean, beautiful, and spacious - with an excellent location in NW Washington. The afternoon cocktail hour was a pleasant way to relax before dinner, and we actually met some new friends during our three day stay. The huge lobby is an experience in elegance and beauty. I would encourage anyone to plan to stay at this hotel while visiting Washington for business or pleasure.

Interestingly, decorated hotel with a maximalist vibe in a historic post office Building in this heart The Washington DC area. Everything about this hotel was fantastic.
