Thank you for a very enjoyable and hospitable stay at Intercontinental Aqaba.

A special thank you goes to Momen Z. (room service) for his hospitality, great knowledge of the menu, very welcoming attitude and taking extra measures to ensure a pleasant stay.

His attitude and welcoming personality was one of the key parts of having an enjoyable stay.

Also, thank you to Mohammad S. who was also very welcoming, hospitable and took exceptional care of us during our breakfast.

Short stay in Aqaba

We were happy to visit Aqaba and specifically the Intercontinental Hotel after 2 years of Pandemic. The Location ist the best in Aqaba. The Beach is beautiful. We hope to see you again, especially Mr. Muhannad from the Reception. He was very helpful und kind.

My worst holiday experience

Unfortunately our stay was cut short due to the great disappointment in your hotel.

Firstly, we had bought duty free alcohol as most travellers do when at the airport. On arrival at your hotel, the security man told us we are not allowed to bring this inside the hotel. Then the night manager said the same, Mr Moutaz. After explaining we didn’t know and the fact it is not written anywhere on the hotel website or booking page, he understood and allowed it. This is not acceptable after a long journey to be treated this way. If this is your hotel policy, it should be made very clear on your website or the booking page. I’ve never experienced this anywhere else in the world.

As you know I’m a gold IHG rewards member and also I’ve travelled the world. But never come across a hotel so dated and shabby looking. There was nothing 5 star about it.

When mentioned at the front desk, Mr Salah offered a better view room, to try to make the stay more pleasant. He offered a full sea view which was not ready but told us it would be ready by 5-6pm. When we went back, we were told, sorry it’s not possible “maybe” it will be possible tomorrow. I didn’t think this was good practice or customer service when you have promised to try to make things better. I have escalated this complaint about everything with IHG and Mr Moutaz is fully aware of the situation. He did offer to move us early yesterday morning but it was too late by then.

To further issues, we went to the poolside on the first day, we were instructed to bring the towels back ourselves to give to the towel desk. Anywhere I’ve been I’ve never had to take them myself as it’s part of the service.
We then sat on the empty daybed and some 30 minutes later, a staff member came to us and told us we must pay rent for this bed. There was no sign about this or information. How can you implement charges for sunbeds, with no signage? We then moved as we were not willing to pay 30 JD for the day.

After an awful first days experience my husband and I decided to move hotels but unfortunately there was no availability. Because we didn’t want to stay at your hotel any longer we decided to leave Aqaba. But we had booked a tour to Petra yesterday otherwise we would have left the next day.

We had waited nearly 2 years for a holiday and we came to celebrate our first wedding anniversary but unfortunately it has been a horrible experience and certainly not the relaxing holiday we had planned.
