Club experience not as good as expected

No room upgrade as a Spire member. The club lounge was quite disappointing. The selection of hot food there in the evening was limited and not to my liking. The room was nice but smaller than I was expecting. They asked for a deposit at check in even though it said no deposit required on the app. Staff in the restaurant didn’t know how to process the 120 RMB Spire coupon. So overall the stay did not meet my expectations.

Best intercontinental experienced. Normally I don’t stay in IHG, I have heard this particular hotel and gave a try, it was surprisingly good, everything is excellent. Room, restaurant, most important service! I say best in the town

Very overpriced with unsatisfactory guest service

As the newest luxury hotel in Chongqing, this hotel has gotten much attention in the nation and oftentimes becomes fully booked. Yet there are so many areas to be polished, including guest service and amenities. Just a week after I became a Spire Elite member, I came to this hotel specifically for my birthday and hoped to discover the benefits of my new membership level. Thus I sent out an email to the hotel a couple days in advance. However, the hotel failed to respond until I made a phone call after a few days, and the staffs who took my call weren't being helpful enough like others I've encountered in other InterContinental Hotels. When I checked in, the staff at the front desk did not recognize my birthday and failed to clarify if I should have club access. I was very disappointed to later hear that she made a mistake when telling me about having club access during check-in and I didn't deserve it even on my birthday. When I checked out, I had to wait for a long time too. Apart from the guest service, while this new hotel is so overpriced considering the average hotel price in Chongqing and even China, the hotel rooms are small and filled with new construction smell. Be careful if you are bringing your kids or sensitive people. Moreover, the mattresses in all rooms are so hard that I couldn't believe it!! But I have to say that other amenities and the decors in the lobby are brand new, modern, and upscale. And breakfast was amazing. Yet overall it's still incompatible with the extremely high price, in spite of its popularity thanks to its grand opening.
