Behind these statistics are real families - particularly single parents - facing impossible choices amid rising cost-of-living pressures.

In 2023, IHG Hotels & Resorts launched its nationwide collaboration with KiwiHarvest, New Zealand’s leading food rescue organisation. Our collaboration has fostered a sustainable food culture and helped people in need.

Pedal powered food rescue

Every Wednesday, a member of the Crowne Plaza Queenstown’s staff hops on KiwiHarvest’s food recovery e-bike in Queenstown’s CBD. They stop by six local cafés, to collect their unsold fresh food, before heading to the Salvation Army for a community canteen event at midday.

Learning to savour Every Bite

Over a four-week course, participants receive tools, tips, and resources to become more food resourceful, reduce household food waste, and save money. Alvaro Briones, Head Chef at threesixty at Crowne Plaza, shares his tips for minimising food waste.
