Insider Tips

Hoi An

Hoi An is Vietnam’s most charming and atmospheric town, an old port city that has remained remarkably well preserved for hundreds of years. A stroll through the city’s lantern-lit old town, along winding lanes, temples and Chinese shophouses is a romantic journey to the past. Hoi An (then called Lam Ap Pho) was the main trading port of the Cham Empire from the 2nd to the 14th centuries. The city rose to prominence again in the 16th century under the Nguyen Lords and became a major economic center. Chinese, Japanese and traders from Europe all played a role in the city’s development, giving it a uniquely international flavor. Today, Hoi An’s historic charm coexists with abundant shopping and chic modern restaurants, making it a top tourist destination and a culinary haven.
Nestled in the hills of the famous Son Tra Peninsula, just a short drive from three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, this truly iconic, 200-bedroom luxury Danang resort designed by Bill Bensley features exclusive beachfront villas with private pools. Savour fine cuisine at La Maison 1888 by a three Michelin starred Chef, relax in exquisite suites overlooking panoramic ocean views, unwind at the award-winning HARNN heritage spa or enjoy signature cocktails at our beachside bar.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Opulent and amazing property This is the best Intercon Resort that we have ever stayed in so far - the details, opulence and flamboyance is amazing. Beautiful property and I can't describe it further than just breathtaking. Service is excellent and the room, superb. It's what an Intercon Resort should be like. August 31, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fourth time to paradise? This is our fourth time (eh oui!) going back to our haven by the seaside, away from the noise, the crowd, the pollution, the hectic pace, all elements of modern-day life. So why do we keep going back? The location which is this secluded bay with calm, aquamarine waters (not for surfers mind you), fine sand, coconut trees and other vegetation shielding one from the sun. One looks out to the bay and looks back to several tiers (earth, sky, and heaven) of buildings constructed into the mountains with extremely lush vegetation. No other surrounding hotels, noisy markets, highways, etc. to disturb this peace! And of course, very fine amenities, excellent service, a choice of restaurants (Barefooted by the beach, upstairs Citron, and more fine dining at La Maison, which we have not yet set foot in). Etc. This year, obviously, the management has made the effort to provide linguistically better trained staff who would chat you up, go out of their way to help one if in need. Our only caveat? The cuisine. Very conservative although the ingredients were of high quality, quite fresh, and diverse. Very European (traditional) even though one could get a taste of the so-called Vietnamese cuisine. Or an ersatz of it. Bland. Boring. One could suggest a more varied choice of cuisines (sashimi? couscous? Bibimpap?), lighter fares, more inventive ones? Please. Dieu and Mark August 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It's more than your expectation We stayed here for 2 nites and my stay even greater when we had suite upgraded ^^. I've been at 4 InterContinental hotels in Vietnam and this place made me feel relax the most. From check in to check out, to its airport lounge, everything was perfect. Staff were very friendly and smiling. Room is very spacious with spectacular ocean view both from bedroom and bathroom window, high quality room amenities and facilities. Only a minus point is the time for delivery anything you order quite slow, about 20-30mins. We ordered some in-room complimentary tea with Instant Service staff but nothing delivered. Above all, we've had an unforgetable stay in this beautiful resort and highly recommend this hotel for others. August 28, 2015
