LOCAL CULTURE

Hoi An

Hoi An is Vietnam’s most charming and atmospheric town, an old port city that has remained remarkably well preserved for hundreds of years. A stroll through the city’s lantern-lit old town, along winding lanes, temples and Chinese shophouses is a romantic journey to the past. Hoi An (then called Lam Ap Pho) was the main trading port of the Cham Empire from the 2nd to the 14th centuries. The city rose to prominence again in the 16th century under the Nguyen Lords and became a major economic center. Chinese, Japanese and traders from Europe all played a role in the city’s development, giving it a uniquely international flavor. Today, Hoi An’s historic charm coexists with abundant shopping and chic modern restaurants, making it a top tourist destination and a culinary haven. 0

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing stay I've stayed in many resorts and hotels in a variety of countries, and I can't imagine a better experience than the one my wife and I had on our honeymoon at the Intercontinental in Da Nang. I could write all about the quality of the room we stayed in, the style of the resort, or the fantastic surroundings where the resort is located, but you can see all of that in any pictures you see of the resort - it's all true, this is a beautiful resort in a perfect location. What you can't see in those pictures is the level of customer service shown by all staff in the resort - from the front desk to the gardening staff, everybody we encountered had a smile and a "xin chao!" for us, as well as a lot of advice and tips for both inside the resort as well as out in Da Nang/Hoi An. We couldn't have asked for a better stay and the staff played a large role in that, so thank you Intercontinental for a wonderful Honeymoon experience! 27 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Wonderful place! We are very happy to stay here, it is like a heaven. We have very enjoyable with La Maison restaurant and very impressive breakfast at Citron restaurant. That would be more greater if some issues can be improved: 1) Staff service: It is a bit slow when need some help, we had to wait nearly 20 minutes 2) Check in time: It is quite late to check in, I had to wait from 2pm to 2h45pm to check in 3) Sound system: I would recommend sound system should be available. I have to wait 30 minutes to install Bose system in my room I will be back on Viet Nam Tet holidays and hopefully to see the improvements Thank you! Best regards 20 October 2014
