LOCAL CULTURE

Hoi An

Hoi An is Vietnam’s most charming and atmospheric town, an old port city that has remained remarkably well preserved for hundreds of years. A stroll through the city’s lantern-lit old town, along winding lanes, temples and Chinese shophouses is a romantic journey to the past. Hoi An (then called Lam Ap Pho) was the main trading port of the Cham Empire from the 2nd to the 14th centuries. The city rose to prominence again in the 16th century under the Nguyen Lords and became a major economic center. Chinese, Japanese and traders from Europe all played a role in the city’s development, giving it a uniquely international flavor. Today, Hoi An’s historic charm coexists with abundant shopping and chic modern restaurants, making it a top tourist destination and a culinary haven.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 300 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great view, wonderful environment, immaculate premises "how come everybody there was so nice" and of course the resort's facilities are faboulous. Staffs at the hotel never made me feel like I were asking for too much. I like Citron's Team, appreciated keen support of the Concierge Team, and they impressed me the way the dealed with our request rapidly and thoroughly. Rooms in resort room were comfortable and immaculate. 28 January 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Luxurious stay An unforgettable experience and highly recommended. I stayed in a Peninsula Club Room which provided a large living and balcony area, exceptional views and access to the club lounge - well worth the additional expense. The resort's architecture is stunning, the staff are extremely hospitable and knowledgeable and there are a variety of activities at the resort and nearby (Hoi Ann was very nice) to keep you entertained. The level of detail at every step of the resort is unparalleled. We also dined at the La Maisson restaurant, which I would also highly recommend if you're addicted to fine dining. 27 January 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by quite possibly the best resort on earth we basically looked up properties nearby that we coudl use points and booked this hotel because of the location and points needed - we had no idea it would be the best hotel experience we ever had - it is by far the most beautifully designed place i have ever scene - the attention to details form the room to the public spaces blew our minds , so much so i had to meet the manager to ask who designed the hotel (Bill Bensley is the designer) and get the grand tour - i have not one thing bad to say and am now plotting how i will get back there ASAP - it was, for lack of a better word, PERFECT. 25 January 2015
