Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 538 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wow for the bed Wonderful bed and pillows. Large shower with plenty of shower gel. Great choice at the buffet breakfast. Very handy for walking to shops and theatre as well as public transport. Most importantly very quiet in our room. The only negative was the shock I received at the price of 2 chicken sandwiches from room service - $63!! We will be back in the near future. 01 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff and surroundings Having recently just spent 3 nights at Rialto Melbourne, the friendly and knowledgable staff are a stand out. So polite and very, very helpfull, no matter how big or small your request. The surroundings of the main atrium is outstanding and the food and bar were amaizing. The selction of Malt Whisky available is as good as i have seen for many a time. Rooms were very clean and functionable and if i could change anything i prefer the TV at the end of the bed and not at the side, Thanks for a great stay 30 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing Hotel Great rooms and lovely bars to enjoy a private drink and relax 28 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by First Class all the way As a tired and busy Mum of a 5 and almost 3 year old I wanted to take the kids to Melbourne so we could relax and have fun. This hotel was perfect. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The beautiful twin room was luxurious and the bathroom was well appointed with all the toiletries you would expect in a 5 star hotel. We had breakfast in the Alluvial Restaurant which had a great and varied selection of breakfasts. A swim in the hotel pool was the perfect way to round of the day and the jacuzzi was my absolute favourite. Couldn't fault the experience as it was wonderful from start to finish. Highly recommend this hotel to all travellers. 28 June 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very enjoyable. A very pleasant stay overall. Excellent location. Short walks to CBD, southbank and etihad stadium. Helpful and efficient staff. We will definitely stay there again. 26 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service Staff are attentive . Rooms are clean and neat . Room service food are yummy! Suites are affordable and spacious! 26 June 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service, good location First time at Rialto, very friendly and efficient staff. 25 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Thoughtful and caring staff I was extremely impressed by this hotel when I stayed there recently for two nights. Greeted by knowledgeable staff who were expecting me. Checked in with ease. A great room too. A call from the Concierge in the early evening to see whether I needed any help with restaurant bookings capped it off. 24 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Home again. Home again. Best sleep in years From the moment Cliff met the taxi, I knew I was home. James, the ever-knowledgeable, extremely well connected & mightily friendly concierge, welcomed me as if it was yesterday. While there are no issues at the Rialto, nothing is too small a request. Hungry? Thirsty? Weather turn bad? Do yourself a favor and eat downstairs. Food is fabulous, wines are great. Atrium is a bonus. Then adjourn to your room & climb into the cloud. Enjoy. 23 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by brief stay travelled with my daughter on a quick 2 night break in Melbourne. Excellent place to stay. 23 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Brighton Suite- a very special stay I am a regular visitor to this excellent, well located hotel. However, this visit was my most memorable ever, as I received a free upgrade to the beautiful Brighton Suite. If it just had a wine cellar, I could move in permanently! A beautiful suite, with extremely generous proportions, the living room has a beautiful parquetry floor, elevated dining area with full dining suite, large flat screen TV, Bose sound system and even a powder room separate from the bathroom. The enormous bed was supremely comfortable, and the bed room could be shut off from the separate living area, allowing me to watch the early morning World Cup soccer while my daughter continued to slumber undisturbed. There was a huge walk in wardrobe, separate WC with bidet, very state of the art shower and spa bath, his and her sinks and great lighting throughout. All in all, a very special space! 23 June 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff and nice hotel The hotel is beautiful and the staff is great. The hallway noise was bothersome and the food though good was not consistent. The wait staff did make sure this was brought to the attention of the management team. 22 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A delightful and wonderful stay We used the The Rialto as a "comfort stop" before beginning a 2.5 month stint in the DR of Congo. What an excellent choice as the staff were so friendly, efficient and helpful. The room was amazing, our stay was fantastic so we will be staying at The Rialto when we return from the DRC. Thank you so much 20 June 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Anita Booysen Had a wonderful stay and will definately recommend to others 20 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Definitely would recommend & come back again Everything about this venue is perfect. The building is absolutely amazing and everything from the welcoming greeting at the front to the fluffy bathrobes are amazing. Would highly recommend to stay here. Will return again. Thank you for a wonderful stay. 20 June 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable but average 5-star experience My wife and I actually stayed 3 nights, checking out on the 15th of the month. Good points: Concierge were courteous and informative when asked. We loved our rooms, very clean, functional, bed was very comfortable. As I had to use the desk for work purposes the provided light and chair were excellent. And despite there being no 'view' (probably not possible in the CBD) in 401, soundproofing was excellent. Bathroom was excellent. Staff very attentive to carrying our bags. Hotel pool was warmed just nicely, gym and sauna amenities great. Sound speakers in rooms were top-notch. I think definitely rated 5-star. Staff professionally dressed. Hotel decor was unique and excellent. Points for Improvement: Although staff were helpful, we didn't feel a sense of warmth as we have felt during our travels elsewhere to other IHG hotels. Would encourage staff to engage more with customers, even if you need to look at the computer to check-in without having to feel overbearing or intrusive. OFFER a map straight away if you know we are not local. Transportation options can be a little confusing without a little help. Shouldn't have to discuss where the nearest Coles might be. Greet EVERY single guest and non-guest, even if (especially if) you see them multiple times a day. When new, actually direct them to the concierge desk, not let them find it themselves. Be ready to offer suggestions immediately for places with good coffee and restaurants. Be aware of restaurant closing times eg. if guests happen to check in late and need a quick bite (doesn't have to be expensive) and be aware which restaurants tend to be full. Smile! Bell persons were helpful eg. Dimitri for telling us about Merchant and showing us our rooms and being resourceful. Room service was very prohibitively expensive, even for a 5-star hotel. Typical breakfast for $40? Perhaps offer something unique worth paying for an experience for $40 if prices cannot come down. These days internet and newspapers should be free for everyone not only IHG members in this price range. It doesn't look good on the internet to charge $25/day for wifi, even if you waive it for guests at the desk. Nespressos and bluetooth audio should be standard in ALL rooms as it is in some other hotels. The wooden board under our TV was loose, and easily came off, revealing ugly electronics behind. A bit awkward to find you can listen to the TV in the bathroom but not your portable music device. Sink tap is too low to fill kettle with, and tub takes too long to fill ?too water-saving. Suggest no need milk in fridge (make it available on request only). Offer something extra to personalise our room always looks good eg. a welcome card with our names in our rooms, maybe complementary coffee delivered to our rooms when we arrive since Melbourne is famous for coffee!? Much more personalisable, universal and cheaper than wine. For rooms, desk shelves were a bit dusty. Light switches not intuitive. A nice touch is to have anti-fog over the center part of the mirror in bathroom so you can use the mirror even when bathroom is steamy. Overall we had a good fuss-free 5-star stay and would return. But at this level, we would have high expectations. Exceed them with a 5-star experience. 19 June 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good and trouble free stay Arriving to the hotel was great, the bell man immediately got all the bags and I was escorted to the reception. My reservation was really simple which resulted in a to long try to upsell more expensive rooms. The room was OK but could have been cleaner - and for some reason they did not change the sheets and forgot to empty the trash bin. Breakfast was a disappointment - for a Intercontinental breakfast must be great and have good service and choice. Being a Intercontinental hotel means customers have expectations and this time is was nothing special - just standard. 19 June 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service On the whole my stay was very pleasant. The staff were great and the checking and check out was very smooth. The room presented very well and the daily service was excellent. My only suggestions/complaints are: . I'm not a fan of the 2 single beds being pushed together to make a king size one. No matter how it's done the join makes it uncomfortable. . The angle of the tv to the bed makes it difficult and uncomfortable to view. Although I understand there are physical constraints. . I had breakfast on the first morning but found the hot breakfast a bit 'stale' and the tomato juice sour. 18 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent stay Very kcomfortable hotel. Staff attention to detail was very pleasing. Although it was our first stay at this hotel I was made to feel that I was a returning friend. As an IHG club member I weas pleased with the high level service afforded us in the club room. Would recommend this hotel to others. 17 June 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very striking appearance From the street, the hotel is relatively understated, but once you enter the main hall is very striking. The room was very comfortable and the indoor pool a pleasure. 15 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing stay for a long weekend We have stayed at this hotel several times and it just seems to keep getting better! Incredible food and pleasant staff made our long weekend a joy. I can't wait to come again. 15 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Truly outstanding personalised service MAde to feel extremely welcome during 10 days in Melbourne Very helpful staff and genuinely polite and caring. Cant recommend too high 12 June 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great room, a few drawbacks Comfy bed and fantastic desk staff. A few disappointments: overpriced food and drink, especially churros (soggy and over-sugared) and $6 for LLB, $5 for coffee, $30+ for breakfast. Be aware of staying on a weekend as there's not many eating alternatives open nearby. No sanitary bins in pool/gym area at all. 11 June 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by concierge services Very Happy with service and staff cccccccccccccccccc 10 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Home away from home Love the ground floor rooms. I can just wheel my luggage without having to negotiate lifts. The blackout blinds are superb. It's the secret to a good night sleep after a long day. The wifi is good. Everything in the room is logically placed and of the right height, important to me as I'm not very tall and slightly mobility challenged. Love the toiletries, luxury ! 09 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Service is the norm at the Rialto I have been lucky enough to stay a couple of times at the Rialto, and I would try to stay there every time I visit Melbourne. The Hotel itself is an architectural wonder, Joining 2 XIX century grand building sto Create the hotel entry and Atrium, simply espectacular. LOcation is outstanding too. Door Staff and concierge are attentive, and packed with knowledge and good manners. Front Desk Staff is effective, kind and helping. I have had 2 experiences here: Basic room and Suite. The basic room is not that basic, have all that you can expect from a world class hotel and is ample and comfortable. The suite I was this time was a delight: Huge, cosy, own terrace, amazing bathroom, full of character...A delight that I was upgraded into - THANKS! I am a big fan of the IHG group ( that is why I am a Gold Ambassador member) in all the brands but Interconteninetal properties are just simply epectacular with a consistent great expereince anywhere in the wolrd> Thanks again for a great stay and hope I visit this hotel soon! 09 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best place in Melbourne The hotel , the room and the staff were fabulous. I stay regularly in Melbourne and this is the best place i have stayed in so far. Will definitely be staying here in future 06 June 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't meet my expectations I didn't feel this hotel was value for money. The layout of the room was not appropriate and the bathroom was very tiny and basic. 06 June 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Hotel We chose The Rialto initially for its location. The exterior and interior of the Hotel is beautiful. Our room was lovely with everything you could need catered for. The bed was so comfortable and the Buffet Breakfast was absolutely sensational! Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will certainly choose The Rialto next time we are in Melbourne. Kim & Dugald 04 June 2014
