Hello and welcome to the InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto. I'm James Ridenour, your Concierge. My team and I are looking forward to sharing our amazing city with you. Our goal is to help you to enjoy an authentic experience in Melbourne.

Things to do
The Perfect Day

Start your day with a stroll down the Yarra River to Melbourne's iconic Royal Botanic Gardens which houses over 10,000 species of plants. Complete with lake and gazebos, the gardens offer stunning views of Government House and the city skyline. Weave your way back to the city and wander the laneways of Melbourne, enjoy Melbourne's coffee scene and take time to stop at one of the many local cafes. Make sure to stop by The Block Arcade what is considered to be one of ‘Australia’s top 10 landmarks’ and is one of Melbourne’s most iconic destinations. Wander through and explore a range of shops, cafes and boutiques.

Spend the afternoon taking in the culture of the city. We recommend a visit to National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) Australia, offering a range of creative learning opportunities for everyone, inspired by the NGV Collection and exhibitions. This public gallery houses an extensive Aboriginal and Australian fine art collection. Next stop by one of Melbourne's iconic bars for a afternoon drink. Arbory, located between the Yarra River and Flinders Street Train Station is must do for locals and tourists alike, catering to a wide variety of tastes, offering guests a considered, craft focused and comfort driven food and beverage selection.

Next to hotel head up to Level 55 of the Rialto, Lui Bar, boasting spectacular views over Melbourne and is the perfect place to unwind and watch the sun go down whilst enjoying a pre dinner beverage. Melbourne has an eclectic dinner scene with authentic and fusion cuisines scattered throughout the city. The best the city has to offer is the plethora of iconic restaurants on Flinders Lane precinct including Chin Chin, Cumulus or Tonka. One of the most reknowned is MoVida, originally opening in 2002 as a little bar on a graffiti-covered lane, serving Spanish tapas and shared plates. Now with 4 different venues scattered over the city, all unique but but they share a philosophy of celebrating Spanish produce, food, and culture through Australian produce, food, and culture, respecting both but constrained by neither. Take a wander to Southbank precinct, just across the Yarra River, we recommend cross over on the historic Princes Bridge and enjoy the spectactular view of the city. Many landmarks such as Flinders Street Station, Federation Square and the Arts Centre are beautifully lit at night.
