The hotel is great - room is comfortable, club lounge is nice and the breakfast is great. Also the interior and the exterior are just good looking and welcoming.
However, when I returned to my room at night it seemed that the toilets were used (sparing the descriptions of visuals and smells) and the answers I got from the staff (after I have re-inquired) was horrendously unacceptable.

Great service in every area. Elegant and beautifully kept hotel. Very comfortable room and bed. Shame that the $50 valet parking wasn't included in the package. otherwise fantastic.

As a Platinum Ambassador member I have stayed at Intercontinental and related hotels on a regular basis. This was our first stay in Melbourne. The historic buildings and the way they are incorporated are a welcome addition to this Hotel. A balcony room gave the best viewpoint to see them in the evening with their special lighting features and a unique view of the Hotel overall. The Club Intercontinental provided a welcome retreat after a busy day in Melbourne and early flight. The staff provided exceptional service from the moment we were greeted on arrival to our departure.
Due to the design of the central atrium there was some noise from the restaurant bar area but this was minimal and ceased when these areas closed. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

it appeared that the hotel has given up in competing with other 5* hotels in Melbourne. There were many areas that required attention in the room. The bars were as lively as a mammal in hibernation. The food in the restaurant was well below 5* hotel standards.
Front Desk Service was excellent but unfortunately that was the only enjoyable experience.
I have stayed at many Intercon and Holiday Inn Hotels but regrettably this was the worst one I have experienced.

I stay with the Intercontinental Hotels as much as I can. I love the service, the attention to detail and the loyalty program. They do make you feel special overtime you arrive.

First time in an Intercontinental Hotel, from now on this will always be our first choice. Excellent in every way, great room, great service, great value for money, incredibly comfortable bed, and very helpful staff. Hotel in an excellent location.

My husband and I stayed at the IC melbourne for 4 nights just recently. It was the first time in 4 years we have taken a break without our son so we were hoping it would be special. We were not disappointed. The location was perfect (as we went to the F1 Grand Prix), the room was excellent, the service was great and access to the club lounge topped off our stay.
Definitely be staying there again.
