Whilst I realise that there had only been a matter of weeks from handover from HYATT proceedures to IHG proceedures I would make the following comments:
1. Full marks for all ther staff we came across especially Alexandra who look after my wife and I for one night in the club lounge
2. Having stayed at IHG around the world I would suggest you review your staffing policyfor the club lounge, in so muc that there shoud always be someone on duty in the lounge itself to dispense the drinks, during our stay apart from Alexandra each night guest were left to their own devices for most of the time and helped themselves to drink. I would assume that the poicy of unmanned lounge must be costing IHG aconsiderable amount ot of money on how quick the wine was consummed.
3. There should be some form of manned desk before any guest gets into the lounge, this could be use as meet and greet, identify
the guest room, but more impartantly it would go a long was to illiminate the embarassing incident where a mother and father brought their young daughter into the lounge and settled in (no staff around) only to be then asked to leave as the hotel had a policy of no children in the lounge. I must admit Ive not been aware of this policy in any of my previous stay globally at the Intercontinental.
4. What wines are on displayed should be used and stop the
odd situation where guest requeted and better quality wine and wers served separately from the bar outside.
Over all good stay and I would come back again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Roundandabout Great Staff great view great hotel
What a wonderful experience!! Took our two young (4 and 2 yo) grandaughters for a two night stay and from the moment we arrived the friendliness and efficiency of the staff was exceptional.
Lorraine and her team at breakfast went beyond their duties to make the kids feel welcome.4yo made a comment at the end of 2nd days breakfast that she "really likes watermelon" and lo a bowl of watermelon appeared from Chen who happened to hear her. She was delighted at the "magic".
Dinner at the Fireplace was delicious with great service and again the children were made to feel very welcome.
The room was very quiet and extremely comfortable with ample space for all our mess of toys etc and the view across the lagoon to the marina as recognition for Platinum status a great bonus considering we also received chocolates and wine.
The grandaughters really enjoyed time in both pools and the spa with their new "best friends" who they met at the pool for the first time.
The mosquitos were very much in evidence but to be expected with lush gardens such as at this resort - we had repellent so not too much of a problem
All in all a very successful visit and we will certainly return for a quieter visit without the children

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KezzaR Great restaurant & beautiful gardens
I was extremely impressed with the level of service and the comfort of the hotel. The Fireside restaurant was wonderful and our waiter was very knowledgable about the food and wine. Danny, the waiter, in the Club lounge was very efficient and helpful.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and the public areas were designed in such a way that it was possible to relax and read without being disturbed.

Great staff, good rooms with comfortable beds. Lagoon pool is ideal for kids of all ages. The hotel is not located close to the Gold Coast nightlife, but for us that is why we chose it and it made for a more quiet and relaxing stay.
Only criticism is they charge for using the business centre.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by totosyd The only decent Amenity is the pool! Old and tired hotel
To be honest. They'd just taken the old other brand hotel and put an Intercontinental label. The rooms are tired and old. The hotel needs a complete revamp. There is construction noises (so I hope they are actually making changes). but the management doesn't seem to want to take care of Intercontinental loyal customers. Despite being a holiday destination they don't accommodate anyone with children in the club in the evening (during school holidays). Nor give any other options. The rooms are mosquito ridden and are definitely not a 5 star standard. It's very disappointing as they want to receive the revenue of the Intercontinental loyal customers but haven't bothered to inform anyone that they're not getting a 5 star hotel despite the 5 star price.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Abraham10 Staff are awesome!
The staff are brilliant. A true asset and strength of this property! From the minute we arrived we felt comfortable and welcome. The lagoon pool is outstanding! Certainly the main event at this hotel. It is a lovely old building, but it definitely needs a complete overhaul in order to compete with other 5 star hotels in the area. The suite that we stayed in was adequate - nice view, lots of mosquito's ( some free repellent would have been nice) expensive in comparison to other 5 star hotels we have stayed at. The breakfast needs to be improved - basic presentation is lacking. Great location next to restaurants and shopping marina. All in all, we had a pleasant stay - Intercontinental need to really step it up now and really give this place an X factor, it has all the potential - for example a little expenditure on new pool lounges and pillows, new outdoor seating areas around the pool dining area. This would really enhance the look of the pool from all angles of the hotel and bring a more modern feel to the place, whilst retaining its old Queenslander charm.

Great staff make this resort a great place, service is the word while the location gives many choices when it comes to activities etc. Only gripe is the room could be improved re fixing minor wear and tear such as scratched AV units.

Just a note on my check-in experiance. I recieved absoulutly no recognition when checking in, I was just a name. Usually I would expect the receptionist to say something like.... "good afternoon Mr ......, welcome to the IC Sanctuary Cove, I see by our booking system you are a Platinum Member and I also see you are an IC Ambassador. thank you for your loyalty. We have your room available for you now and we have given you your automatic upgrade as an Ambassador member. Also your complimentary amenities are already in the room etc etc etc and would you like to take advantage of your late check-out etc etc.
In my instance I recieved a ....Here are your key cards, swipe them at the door. Also here is a map showing you where your room is, Have a good stay and let us know if you need anything else.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mikeperso First stay under new management.
There are many great things about the Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove but the best thing is the warm welcome by the staff. In particular the ever helpful Andrew at reception. Our stay was a little bit of indulgent luxury at the end of a Christmas visit to Queensland...our kids always look forward to the buffet breakfast while my wife and I enjoy evening canapés and drinks in the Regencey Club and a Piña Colada by the pool.
We look forward to returning soon,

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tonic Christmas at Sanctuary Cove
our stay at Sanctuary Cove over the Christmas period 2012 was most enjoyable.
The resort is aptly named. The setting and facilities are ideal for those wanting a rest and total break from the pressures that this time of year often brings.
Christmas lunch in the Cove Cafe was sumptuous and the staff at all times, most helpful, knowledgeable and cheerful.
The rooms are light and airy, spacious and very well presented, although the bathrooms may be a 'little tired'. An iPod dock and free WI FI would be welcome additions for this 5 star resort.
The close proximity of the Village, provides further dining options within walking distance and opportunities for some retail therapy for those desiring such diversions.
I would have no hesitation in returning to Sanctuary Cove or recommending it highly to friends who want the opportunity to rest and rejuvenate their spirits in a delightful environment, where nothing is too much trouble for staff.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jonesy Outstanding Staff
Rooms disappointing for a Intercontinental Hotel but hope they upgrade to a better standard once settled in. Facilities superb with 2 great pool areas and great location with Sanctuary Cove Marina a very short walk away with great restaurants and shopping.
Overall stay was good, but the outstanding feature was the attitude of staff towards guests. By far the best we have experienced by a long shot. From Reception, to phone guest services, to the concierges, to the Golf Shop guys, all were extremely polite, happy and made you welcome. Absolute joy to interact with and we were blown away by their personna.
Job well done and will recommend to others, but do something with the rooms, as we would have been a bit annoyed if we had to pay (not cheap) instead of reward nights.
