InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort is the first InterContinental Resort property in Australia and is situated on the northern end of the Gold Coast within prestigious Sanctuary Cove. The resort is set amidst lush gardens, and is home to a spectacular beach lagoon pool. Start your day with a game of tennis or an energetic cardio class at The Country Club. Enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast in Cove Cafe followed by a stroll through The Marine Village where you’ll discover a variety of specialty shops including fashion boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and cafe’s. Stop for a coffee and marvel at the amazing array of spectacular boats housed in the world-class marina, before finishing your morning with a round of golf on The Palms or The Pines.

Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing around the spectacular beach lagoon pool, or enjoy High Tea in Cove Cafe. Start your evening with a cocktail or boutique beer from our extensive beverage menu at The Verandah Bar before dining in the Resort’s signature restaurant, The Fireplace. Offering contemporary cuisine, featuring local and seasonally sourced produce, with grilled meats and seafood seasoned and garnished with fresh herbs from the Resort's own herb garden. Try the tasting menu and allow our Sommelier to enhance the menu with complementing wines. An after dinner stroll along the boardwalk overlooking the marina is the perfect way to end an evening.

You are not obligated to tip in Australia. Australian's do believe in tipping when they have received good service though, so tip when you see fit.
Warm sunny days and cooler evenings
South East Queensland weather is a comfortable, sub-tropical climate. Temperatures average mid to high 20 degrees celsius all year round. When it rains on the Gold Coast, being sub-tropical any storm activity or grey skies tend to clear up quickly, and the sunny Gold Coast skies reappear.
Smoking is banned from restaurants, shopping centers, bars, clubs, public transport, taxis and entrances to public buildings. There are dedicated areas for smoking which are clearly signed. Fines apply to individuals who smoke outside of these designated areas.

The Resort's Architectual Design
InterContinental Sanctuary Cove resort's Great House is of a distinct Queenslander design. Queenslander designed homes can be identified by the 'tin and timber' look and raised living spaces allowing for ventilation below which is needed during the Summer and Spring months of the year. This design was first introduced in 1840's and has been a permanent design feature in the state of Queensland with local governments implementing conservation laws to keep the distinct look in the local suburbs.
The Pines- Arnold Palmer Signature Course
As Australia's only Arnold Palmer signature course, The Pines is revered as one of Australia's best and most challenging courses. Carved through 101 hectares of established pine forest, the course features corridor approaches to several holes, with lakes guarding others. Fourteen of the holes are contoured around six man-made lakes. The Pines offers a very special golfing experience.
Sanctuary Cove is home to many native wildlife including kangaroos. The best time to view the kangaroos from a distance is at dawn or dusk when they are out feeding You’ll see them mainly on the golf courses. As they are wild animals it is strongly recommended that they are admired from a distance.
Home to Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show
The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is a four day event held annually at Sanctuary Cove. It is a key event on the Asia-Pacific Boat Show calendar, attracting more than 40 000 visitors (on average) each year. The Show displays a wide selection of marine products and services including superyachts, luxury power cruisers, power and sail multihulls, trailerable craft, kayaks, jetskis and watercraft plus engines, electronics, navigational gear and marine services.
To celebrate the opening of Sanctuary Cove, five days of celebrations were held over the second weekend in January in 1988. International acts Frank Sinatra and Whitney Houston headlined the two main concerts at the event which also saw performances from The Boy From Oz's Peter Allen and legendary vocalist Julie Anthony amongst others. By day the entertainment line-up continued, showcasing the best of the Sanctuary Cove lifestyle with a full program of ultimate sporting events.
WHAT TO PACK
With our beautiful sub-tropical weather it is easy to enjoy relaxing by the beach lagoon pool, however, be sure to pack SPF 30+ sunscreen, light clothing, and a hat and sunglasses to ensure you save your skin from the Queensland sun. It is best to stay out of the sun during the middle of the day when the UV rays are the strongest.
Australian power sockets
Australia's power sockets require a flat two prong plug resembling an upside 'V'. It is advisable to bring an Australian socket adaptor, however, there are international adapaters available from the concierge desk.
Australia has the strictest quarantine laws in the World because of its unique environment. Please ensure you do not bring any unprocessed food, fresh food, animals and animal products or plant material into the copuntry as heavy fines can be levied. There are also strict quarantine laws between states and fresh food can not be transported across state lines.
Located mid way between both Brisbane Airport and Gold Coast / Coolangatta Aiport. The resort is easily accessible on the M1 motorway through Exit 57 (from either direction) Tamborine - Oxenford Road exit leads towards Hope Island and Sanctuary Cove.
