Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Willard Staff is the BEST! My husband and I spent a long weekend at the Willard Intercontinental for my birthday. Brian checked us in and he surprised me by wishing me a happy birthday. Once we were in our fantastic Junior suite (with a terrific view...we could see the top third of the Washington Monument), I was presented with a wonderful, fanciful cupcake and a bottle of champagne as a complimentary gift! They made me feel so special. Brian was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the Willard which is a spectacular hotel. Our suite was well-appointed with all the normal amenities. As Ambassador members our fruit plate and bottles of water were waiting for us and the water was replenished each day of our stay. My husband appreciated the complimentary newspaper. The Willard is centrally located only 2 blocks from the White House and within walking distance of many of the sites. Taxis abound right outside the front entrance. I highly recommend the Willard. 19 June 2014

The room was outstanding, the Hotel itself is beautiful, and our breakfast at the Café du Parc was equally outstanding. We also appreciated knowing the historicity of the hotel in connection with the U.S. Presidents and other historic notable figures who have been your guests. In addition, being adjacent to the White House and all the monuments made our visit extra enjoyable. We took a morning walk to each of these sites. It was wonderful. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not up to par We usually take a large suite but one was not available this time. At check in, I told the clerk my wife and I were going to grab lunch and he asked if we wanted him to have our bags sent up to our room. We said 'yes' and he asked for the baggage check which we gave him. An hour later when we got to our room, no bags were there, I called and the bellman asked for the baggage check. Told him front desk had it. When he came up to the room, another 30 minutes passed and he had someone else's bags. Normally, service here is excellent. Here was an OBVIOUS delay in bringing bags up so that the bellman could get his tip in person. This is NOT what I expect of a 5 star hotel. 16 June 2014

Trip This was our first time to the DC area and it was great being able to valet our vehicle and having the proximity of the Willard be within walking distance of everywhere we planned on visiting. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointment With Willard Hotel The Willard Hotel is a high priced hotel, and yet it does NOT offer free Business Center access to the internet, and instead charges the outrageous price of $7.95 for 15 minutes. I have NEVER had to pay for use of the internet in a Business Center in ANY hotel EVER! So I refused to pay, and did not have access, which is unacceptable. Also, I was denied IHG Rewards points for the second of two rooms I paid for, including for family members, and that is absolutely unacceptable, as I was cheated out of points, simply because I was not sleeping in two rooms at once. But I paid the bill, and should get points for both rooms for the entire stay. The Willard Hotel is overpriced, and these disappointments assure I will never again stay at the Willard, which lives off its reputation as the hotel for Presidents and other public figures, but forgets not everyone is wealthy and a public figure! 12 June 2014

Our stay was marred by 1) had to wait for a seat at breakfast, 2) charge for internet, 3) bar is too small 4) couldn't get a drink outside in evening (only 3 or 4 tables available). Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great property great staff This hotel was great. Room was clean, comfortable and alot of room for 2 adults and 2 older teens. Great location, staff was fantastic and accommodating. The kids enjoyed reading about the history of the hotel and being able to walk to the White House or any of the Smithsonian museums in just a few minutes. 06 June 2014

The unique lobby is stunning. There is no better location in D.C. All the staff work to make sure you enjoy your experience. The Round Robin bar is a special place and a must visit. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by check-in experience Our check-in experience was horrendous. We arrived at 1:00 and we had reserved 3 rooms. We were promised our rooms would be ready shortly. After several more similar promises we actually got to our rooms at 4:10 with one still having a maid still cleaning. Then 10 of us had to somehow cleanup and dress up to attend a party by 5:30. 05 June 2014

In one word the whole experience was "magical". It really is such a special place. I am so glad we decided to spend the money and make this affair so special. Thanks to all the staff. Everyone went out of their way to help. I hope I'll have the pleasure of returning in the near future. 05 June 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing experience The Willard was billed as the best hotel in Washington but I found it disappointing. The bathroom was mediocre with insufficint surface space. I was led to believe that there was a fantastic bar , but it was small and cramped. The breakfast was served in the most awful surroundings, not a restaurant or dining room, but a small cramped room where the service was pretty poor.It was nothing like my expectations. Also, it is frightfully expensive. It is dreadful to have to pay for WiFi. 04 June 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not as expected for the "premier" hotel in DC. No restaurant, free WiFi, or tea making facility. Breakfast a scrum in an inadequate room for size of hotel, tables too close. Round Robin Bar is tiny! Some food not fresh or very good, staff attitudes variable but overall not as expected for the "premier" hotel in DC. Not good value for the money. 04 June 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ambassador perks ignored at this hotel Had this reservation for months and looked forward to a repeat of another great DC weekend at Willard. Was given room right by ice machine with a mini fridge that was not really working and a tub that barely drained. No water, no fruit provided as it should for Intercontinental Ambassador. Received paper and free internet but also received wrong code for internet and had to call back downstairs. Not the service we've come to expect. Hopefully it was an off weekend due to wedding at the hotel and not an indication of a decline in service. 03 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Anniversary made very special We had booked a Jr. Suite for our local anniversary getaway, and had mentioned it on our reservation. Upon check-in, we very immediately congratulated on it multiple times, and the clerk told us that there was something special for us. When we went to our room, we found that we had been upgraded to a full OVAL suite. The suite is massive, with a huge separate oval shaped living area, long marble foyer.. an an amazing room. Wife was very happy, which made me very happy. Restaurant in hotel had a happy anniversary card waiting for us at our table. Hotel is beautiful, in great shape, and location can not be beat. Thank you for making our anniversary even more special. 02 June 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Quick stay at the Willard My family and I(four total) stayed at the Willard and the location was great. We had to wait until after four pm to get into our room but after seeing the room we felt better at first. The room was furnished very nice and the bathroom was all marble and looked beautiful but had a very pungent odor, after having a shower in the bathroom and discovering there is no bathroom fan, That explained the bathroom odor. I then wanted to get some Ice for a few beverages, the ice bucket had no liners and still had some dirty water from previous use. We toured the city for the rest of the day and were exhausted so we decided to eat at the italian resaraunt attached to the hotel called Salade Du Parc and the food was good but the water dropped my iced tea right in the middle of the table and it went everywhere. The tea was on everything and ran across the table onto my wife and daughters lap, after he appoligized he didn"t replace any of the food or the tea. The service was not very good. I would only reccomend staying here for the history and the location. 02 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Wonderful Stay This was our third time at the Willard. We love everything about it. The entire staff is professional and very friendly. We enjoyed tea in Peacock Alley this time and it was worth every penny. Love the croque monsieur for breakfast at Cafe du Parc. The smoked salmon is also wonderful - you will get a generous portion. Simply sitting in the lobby marveling at the beauty of the building while sipping a cocktail is my idea of winding down after a long day of seeing the sties. Thank you staff. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Silver Anniversary From start to finish, our stay to celebrate our 25th Silver Wedding Anniversary was memorable. Had a wonderful dinner in the Café, the staff all knew about and congratulated us on our anniversary, including a complimentary wine and cheese tray in our room. The bar has wonderful cocktails and the room looked out on the Washington Monument. One thing we would have liked is better coffee in the Café. Their regular coffee was a little wanting. But that aside, we so enjoyed the ambiance of the Peacock Alley and the beautiful and famous Lobby. 02 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Spacious, Quiet, & Comfortable I stayed only one night at the Willard, but it was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. Great view, warm & comfy bed, and lots of room to move around. Loved the bright, white light in the bathroom & toiletries provided, the Keurig machine and coffees available, and the variety of snacks & drinks in the in-room bar (though I did not partake, I was still impressed). Got a great night's sleep because of the quietness. Employees were all very kind, personable, and knowledgeable. The breakfast buffet at Cafe du Parc was delicious, though pricey. The only negatives I can pinpoint are that one of the light switches in the entry of the room appeared to be broken - the light stayed on whether the switch was up or down. Related to that, it was difficult at first to find the switches in the bedroom, so when I arrived at night I was a little perplexed. I also didn't receive the Washington Post at my door as requested, but that was okay because there were plenty in the lobby. Overall, the value of my stay far outweighed the cost (which was incredibly reasonable given the location and proximity to the White House). I look forward to staying at the Willard again in the future. 31 May 2014
