Had to yell into back room to get desk lady to come out and answer my question regarding internet. Could not connect to internet in our room. Hot breakfast served late. Was supposed to start at 7:30, which seems late for travelers, but was not fully out until 8:00 am. November 17, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Blood, Smoke, and Tears Upon checking in to this hotel, I found blood on my sheets. Since it was 11 PM when I found this as I was crawling in to bed, the person working at the front desk had to come himself and change my sheets. It was a little awkward, but handled well. He told me that he would leave a note for the manager and that the manager would talk to me the next day. I never heard from the manager, but at the time, I thought no big deal, it was handled. Throughout my stay, the room was supposed to be minimally cleaned during the week and thoroughly cleaned on the weekend. Apparently, minimal cleaning means making the bed, as my bathroom was not cleaned, trash not emptied, etc. Again, I wasn't all that upset, I keep the room clean enough on my own. The morning of my check out, I noticed there was an issue on my bill (taxes were left on even though I mentioned at check in that this would be a tax-free stay and was not asked for any additional information). As I approached the desk, the person saw me approaching and barked "What do you want?" I was kind of taken aback, but I hadn't had my coffee yet and chose to ignore it. When I explained the situation, I was treated as if I had done something wrong. But this part of my hotel stay is always a struggle, as every state and hotel brand handles it differently, so I just moved on. Fast forward a month later. I get my credit card bill and notice that there is an additional $250 on my card. I call the hotel and am told that I was charged for smoking in the room. I explain that this is absolutely not true and am told that the manager verified it so it must be true. So I ask to talk to the manager. Again, I explain that I did not smoke in the room and am essentially told I am lying. Because, you know, he couldn't have possibly made a mistake. Once I get upset, I mention about my experience at the hotel prior to this. Crickets. Not an I'm sorry, not even a response. I get passed on to corporate. Same rig-amoral with corporate. They offer to give me half back. I tell them that I'm opening a dispute with my credit card, which I do. Credit card does the best they can, but since I signed a non-smoking clause on check in, I essentially authorized them to charge my card. The credit card can not dispute that I did not smoke in the room because they don't have proof. I'd like to know where the proof that the hotel has that I did smoke in the room.....but alas, all I have is the word of the manager that he verified it, however, me saying I verify that I did not smoke in the room is not acceptable. So much for the customer always being right. Not only did I have bloody sheets, I was also accused of lying. November 13, 2014
