Local Tips

Must See

Don't miss a visit to the wondrous Acropolis and its Parthenon which afford outstanding views of Athens, representing the birthplace of democracy, philosophy and advanced art. Continue to the Acropolis Museum, designed by the famous architect Bernard Tschumi. Watch the sunset against the Acropolis from the Areios Pagos rock, where the Ancient Athenians' Supreme Court once stood.

What's New

Athens' Concert Hall (Megaro Mousikis), just a five-minute walk away from the hotel, is hosting some great local and international concerts (ask the reception). For a more casual outdoor experience, head to the up-and-coming neighborhood on the pedestrianised Aeolou Street and Agias Irinis (Saint Irene) Square, with trendy coffee shops and small eateries.

Downtown Athens is easily walkable for visitors, and the hotel is only 25 minutes by foot from the heart of the capital. You can also take the metro near the hotel which takes less than five minutes to get to the Downtown area. The two stops that will put you in the middle of everything worth seeing are Syntagma and Monastiraki. In the summer, take a hat with you as it can get hot.

Must Do

Walk through the cobblestone Plaka and Monastiraki neighbourhoods full of souvenir shops, a flea market, neoclassical gems, Ottoman-era buildings and Byzantine churches. Continue to the coffee shops of Thisseo in the afternoon and move on to dinner restaurants of Psyrri with live Greek music, representing a re-gentrified neighbourhood popular with Athenians.

Don't Go Home Without

Make your way to the Mastiha Shop, not far from Syntagma Square, to buy delectable Greek gourmet products, many of which are flavoured with the unique Mastic gum that grows almost exclusively on the island of Chios. Walk on Athinas Street with its traditional food product shops, leading all the way to the Athens central market.
