Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by One night in Rochester This was not my first visit to this hotel. At reception we were greeted by Davin, and very helpful he was I told him about my difficulty booking the hotel having to speak to America, to someone who could not understand me. It also cost me over £7 for the privilege. I was not sure what I had booked. I only knew I had a room. We were booked in and went off to find our room, and a very long way it was. However it was a recently refurbished room and had a good view of the airport ( well it would have done if one of the windows wasn’t blown )( had moisture in it.) It had a lovely big Television and was well equipped and modern. The trouble I had was the fridge was not working and I needed to keep my eye drops cool. I rang reception and asked for some help. I spoke to Davin and was assured that someone would be right up. A very good and kind person arrived called Peter. He looked at the fridge and found that as I had seen that the control was on full. He then offered a change of room; we went to this room and found that the fridge in this room was the same, no point in moving. He then offered to store the eye drops in the fridge in the bar. I took him up on this very kind offer and all went well. After all this we went for a swim, the pool is great, and the staff very good. This is the best asset the hotel has. I must admit that my wife and I pick out hotels with pools, we both love swimming. We enjoyed our evening meal, the staff were excellent, well worth the service charge. The rest of the stay went well a good night’s sleep and the breakfast was good especially when Peter got me some bread , as I was told by one of the other staff only olive bread and bread for toast was left. Just two points I would like to make just as things you could do to improve things. Only one dressing gown with two people in the room. No toilet roll holder. ( maybe it is not the done thing to have one, or are they on order) All in all we had a good stay in this hotel the staff are the greatest, thought full and efficient. April 27, 2016

The hotel is undergoing a refurbishment - and our room's facilities were somewhat lacking - no towel-rail, no soap / shampoo dish in the shower (all baths appear to be being replaced with showers, so if you like a bath you'd better check before you book), no toilet-roll holder - and no table or coffee-table in the room itself. When we commented about this we were advised that they were experiencing difficulties with their suppliers - but if this is the case one wonders why they haven't obtained a few, 'non-fixture' items from the local B April 21, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Always a good welcome Have stayed at this Hi many times over the years, and one thing that is always consistent here is the warm welcome from the Reception team. First time I have stayed here in a year or so, and the welcome was as good as ever. . Have to say that I think the first sentence of the description on the IHG website is easy to mis-interpret, as it says "Refurbished and reopening in spring 2016......" - This does not refer to the hotel but a nearby historic building! Sadly the rooms (especially the bathrooms) are rather tired and the room I stayed in had been given a very poor tosh over with a coat of emulsion - some of which was on the carpet and bathroom floor. Tiles had been really badly patched up in the bathroom, and one was on the verge of falling off. But don't get me wrong it was very clean. As with all Holiday Inn's the selection of Tv channels is pretty poor. Don't be put off staying here though - rooms are warm and cosy the pool is great, and staff always most welcoming. Exterior would look better if it wasn't for the overflowing waste bins in the car park. April 14, 2016
