Beautiful property and worth a visit

The property is beautiful and the room was nice with a gorgeous view. I’m not sure that it quite rose to the level of a $300/night room but, it was still nice. The staff helped me surprise my girlfriend, too, which was great.

Over priced, in poor condition

We stayed in Bar Harbor for a week and decided to extend our stay by a night, and our other accommodations weren't available -- so we booked a night at the Holiday Inn. The hotel room was small, very dated. The grounds themselves were very limited. Having stayed elsewhere in Bar Harbor for less money, would highly recommend looking elsewhere as this property is overpriced and very much in need of renovations.

Awful service, dirty bed covers, charging extra fees

This is probably the worst hotel experience I’ve had. The location is Bea, but the service was terrible. Not sure if everyone was tired and ready to close for the season but we encountered problem after problem with this place, and people that worked there, especially the man at checkout, seemed annoyed to have to help.

Terrible experience

We have had a terrible experience at the holiday inn in bar harbor. We were placed in the only available “mobl access roll in shower ada room” for a member of my family who is in a power wheelchair. This was very misleading as the restroom was not ADA accessible and she could not even pull into the restroom to access the toilet or shower. There was a large bus parked over the handicap parking lines which prohibited us from parking in the handicap spots as we have a ramp that comes out the side of the vehicle for the wheelchair. We were also placed in the room that was across from the elevator from our front door and at the entrance of the hotel roundabout was at our patio…We heard people all night long and car doors slamming and luggage being unloaded. Our room was also placed right next to the public restroom so our room also reeked of sewage. We contacted the front desk and they suggested a deep clean for our room… we came back that night and they still had not been to our room for housekeeping. These were the top of many issues we had with this place.

The resort is good and if they can supply more information and convenient services would be wonderful it’s a good to stay and relax for a holiday with friends and families. Overall I like it and hope everyone wl like it too. Enjoy

Stressful vibes

I stay at Holiday Inn's and Expresses often. My partner and I travel extensively throughout the year and we frequently choose IGH hotels for the amenities and comfort we have grown to enjoy.
We stayed at this hotel in Bar Harbor, ME due to its location and we felt we could trust the brand name.
This location is HIGHLY understaffed and the staff they do have do not care about customer perception nor do they possess a hospitable attitude.
From the front desk clerk who was constantly bombarded by guests and working SOLO, I can sympathize and say that she did maintain a calm demeanor--but was not warm, welcoming or helpful. Cold, monotone and impersonal. The service at the 1 restaurant on premise was atrocious. We sat the the nearly empty bar without so much as a greeting from the bartender for nearly 10 minutes. Finally, he came and cleaned up the previous guests messes surrounding us and then did not return for quite awhile only saying What would you like? No service, no personality- ugh just awful.
The room did not get serviced one day and it smelled like just old musty smells in that room.
We were awakened around 9:30pm by the fire alarm going off and had to evacuate the hotel! no one apologized, offered compensation or explanation-- just terrible.
We did book one additional day because we were enjoying the area and national park--but that did not have anything to do with this hotel.
Overpriced, run down, awful service and understaffed.
Very disappointing and far from what we would expect to be the standard for IGH. Shame. This is definitely NOT a Holiday Inn RESORT.

The hotel room was nice, nothing special, it’s your normal IHG style hotel. I did request a water view but sadly I did get a water view but there was a tree in front of it and I didn’t see any water from my room. But the views from the dock and walking path did make up for it. They had a hot tub with some nice views. Decent laundry room. When I go back to Acadia NP, I would stay here again. The staff member checking me in was great. So overall, I was happy with my stay!

Overall the facility was average, I am guessing they are shutting down and staffing is very low and most of the facility was closed. Our stay was ruined when we encountered one particular person in the wait staff who had a terrible attitude. This person worked behind the bar and for a reason unknown to our group went out of his way to make our two meals at this property miserable. Every other server we encountered was awesome, but this one person was a miserable human being and should not be the face of the organization. Unfortunately, this is all we remember about our stay at this location.

An Unexpected and Special Stay in the Stone House

I was attending a wedding on the property at the Stone House and, to my surprise and delight, I was put in a room on the second floor of the Stone House. My stay felt special and I loved the vaulted ceilings, balcony, and water view! The food at the wedding was terrific
