Nicaragua is full of natural wonders, I suggest you start the day in one of them. The Mombacho Volcano is a wonderful place to visit, especially during a fresh morning. There is a pathway up to the volcano, flanked by natural beauty and dotted with gorgeous Nicaraguan orchids and from which you can overlook the city of Granada and the 360 islets surrounded by Lake Nicaragua.
After the Mombacho, I invite you to visit the city of Granada, one of the first cities on the American continent. If you're interested in Nicaraguan history, the San Francisco Convent is a must-see. Take a horse carriage tour around the city and enjoy the magnificence of the pre-Columbian architecture of the city. Visit the ruins of the Xalteva Wall, which used to divide the population between Native Americans and colonials, or even the Xalteva Church, home to the battle between Maximo Jerez and Cornel Jose Dolores Estrada. After, I recommend you try some typical Nicaraguan food in the central park. Ask for vigoron which is a pickled cabbage with fried pork skins and 'grass' juice.
After visiting all these beautiful places, finish your day in a quiet and relaxed environment at restaurant Intermezzo del Bosque. Located just 15 minutes away from the hotel, this restaurant is a perfect fusion good cuisine, local music and history. During the afternoon we recommend you to visit the national Masaya Volcano Park baptized as “The mouth of Hell” where our ancestors placed a cross in the 16th century. In this majestic park you can visit a museum that offers information about the park as well as other volcanoes of the country. Another exciting activity that offers this site is the tour that starts at 5:00 PM where you will visit the volcano crater and its surroundings until you reach the tunnel that was formed by lava flows from the eruptions, at the end of this tunnel is the Viewpoint Where you can observe burning lava.
The Cathedral of Managua is the newest in Central America; the Cathedral of Leon city is biggest in Latin America and the Cathedral of Granada is the oldest in the Americas.
