Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by NZ_40 Nice Location and great service - maintenance required - food average
My wife and I recently stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed our break. Two highlights of staying at the Intercontinental were; the temperature of the sea water - so warm and clear with a beautiful long beach, and the friendly service of all staff members. The staff are so friendly and helpful.
Things to consider about staying here. The hotel is now approximately 7 years old and some areas are starting to show signs of needing some TLC. The shower heads in room 1524 need some attention, both the heads remain flowing when the rain head is activated. We also had to have our room access cards changed 3 times due to a faulty reader on the door, and a light bulb changed in the bathroom. Also, on arrival at our room, we discovered they had forgotten to finish servicing it. They very kindly offered us a complimentary drink while we waited, which was nice.
These are only very minor items that are easily rectified. But you might want to remember the hotel has some miles on it. This is also evident if you use the gym facilities. Could do with a refresh of equipment and some rubber floor mats would be good. Air conditioning unit in the ceiling was also leaking onto the floor.
Having also been to Rarotonga, we can tell you that the standard of food by comparsion at the Intercontinental is in the fair bracket. This is worth considering if you are staying for any length of time. They have one nice restaurant, but the other two options are o.k. In addition, we felt the cost of the food was high considering the quality.
If you enjoy a swim, we recommend a few lazy lengths of the infinity pool beside the beach looking out to the lagoon - great spot!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Resort and thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were great, the pool great and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the Spa. Can't wait to come back. I gave sleep quality a con as we had a crying baby next door to us for three of the 4 days and it seemed to cry all night. Not the hotel's fault, just made sleeping a little difficult.

A special thank you to Jane, Tomasi, Rupeni and Martin who showed a high level of great customer service. It's due employees like this that i will making another trip to the intercontinental in August.
The food was great, the rooms were spectacular and once again the staff were profesional and very friendly.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SarahLN Always a pleasure.
We love staying at the InterContinental properties, especially the InterContinental Fiji Resort.
Or most recent stay at the Fiji Resort was in April 2015, and our previous in October 2012.
Without going into it too much, the resort looks run down in certain areas (lounge area inside Kama Bar in particular), but nothing unexpected in our 2+ year absence.
The staff are always the highlight of our stay, their friendly welcome is always heartfelt. Special mention to Samu who always ensures the kids are enjoying the daily activities the resort has to offer (in particular, the always entertaining hermit crab race!)
Some areas for improvement:
1. Laundry Services: We paid for the laundry package ($150FJD), however found the service to be slow and tedious. We were constantly asking for a new laundry bag and laundry form, which made us feel there our package purchase was un-welcomed.
2. Pillows: The most uncomfortable pillows I have EVER slept on, and when we requested firmer pillows, we were just given an extra two of the same.
3. Bathroom Amenities: Having stayed at other InterContinental properties, I found the lack of included bathroom amenities below standard for a resort of this level. Perhaps look beyond soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Perhaps some earbuds, showercaps, and even toothbrushes or nail filers would be much appreciated.
Nevertheless, we would gladly return to the InterContinental Fiji Resort, and recommend to friends and family.
