Meet your pastry chef, Alex

With creativity that knows no bounds, Malaysian-born Pastry Chef Alex Chong approaches patisserie from not only a flavour perspective but an artistic viewpoint. He has represented Singapore in numerous international competitions with his innovative dessert masterpieces, including the IKA Culinary Olympics 2016 (where he took home a gold medal), and the worldwide pastry cup competition Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie in France. Bear witness to his culinary vision at Regent Singapore, where he oversees all aspects of baking.

Sweet treats and savoury bites

Paninis with freshly baked breads. Mini pastries and panforte. Homemade gelati and sorbets.  Indulge in both savoury light fare and sweet confections at this Milanese style café, the bakery arm of Basilico, where rustic tones of terracotta combine with warm timbers and golden brass —a quintessentially Italian setting. Peruse the selection of Italian-imported chocolates, cookies, olive oils and wines on display as well.

From Sun-up to Sundown

Daily set offerings satiate from morning through afternoon. For colazione, the Italian word for “breakfast” choose from pastries including sugar donuts, mini focaccias, croissants, pizzetta and bombolone (a custard or jam-filled Italian doughnut), with a choice of Illy coffee or tea. Our pranzo (lunch) set includes a choice of salad, panino or main course accompanied with our soup of the day. Highlights include burrata and bufala salad, truffle foccacina with mascarpone and beef lasagne, just to name a few. Merenda, also known as “afternoon snack”, is served with a slice of cake alongside your choice of Illy coffee or tea. Indulge in the likes of strawberry torta, Amedei dark chocolate cake, Ferrovia cherry cake or ricotta blueberry cake with wild berries, a rotating selection to satisfy any sweet tooth.
