Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by In bad need of update Stayed at the hotel on Friday night September 20th. The Lobby is beautiful, and other public areas and meeting rooms are nice, but showing their age. The elevators are the slowest I've ever encountered. Long wait nearly every time I needed one. I used the stairs after a few very long waits. My room was a "River View King". It looked like it needed a facelift about 15 years ago. It had the oddest layout I've ever had in a hotel room. A person might say the bathroom layout was hideous. Very small. The view of the river out the window was nice. I was on the 5th floor and street noise was loud inside my room. The check-in and check-out were smooth and fast. The staff were all great. The Ethiopian man at the front door, #wish I could remember his name# was exceptional. Had breakfast in the hotel. It was nice. September 24, 2013

Didn't care for the $17 fee for parking in their ramp after paying a pretty penny for the hotel room which was rather small. The breakfast was good but way over priced. It was nice that it was included in the cost of the hotel or we wouldn't have eaten there. The rooms were small along with the beds, however, the rooms were soundproof so they were quiet. The phones didn't work in our room. The front desk was able to call us but we weren't able to call out. I had to use my own cell phone to call the front desk. The pool was one the nicest pools I have ever stayed in. It was somewhat warm and large enough to do laps in. I wish we had stayed another night to go and walk around the river front area but time would not allow it. September 22, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Service outweighs any other negative Our stay there started out with the front desk staff noticing that one of my family members was dealing with a significant issue unrelated to the hotel and without stating anything, the front desk worker passed us a voucher for all of us for a free buffet breakfast. All that was said by the front desk worker was something along the line of I see you're having a bad day and I hope this helps. Throughout the stay the staff was very accommodating and helped make the stay very enjoyable. The rooms were adequate. They aren't flawless and are in need of repair in areas but what do you use a hotel for other than to just get a good sleep. All other aspects of the hotel were great and I'd be glad to stay there again. September 11, 2013

I was also impressed with the lady who served it. Very polished. The only problem I really experienced was that the bathroom was very hot and stuffy. I was getting ready for a funeral and having a hard time because it was so humid. September 6, 2013

The check in staff were very helpful, offering directions on how to get to the running expo and even wishing me good luck! I ordered food in, and the room service order taker was polite and cheerful, the staff that brought my food was very nice and presented the food in a wonderful manner. And the food was delicious! The view from my room was beautiful. Would highly recommend this hotel :) September 4, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Old room not maintained Last minute booking staff was helpful... The view was very nice. The room was supposed to be "executive". We assumed this meant more room.. Not the case. Small room, two double beds, both beds had select comfort controls that were broken, duct taped and didn't work. Carpeting is worn out and dirty. Luckily we just needed a room for one night. The bed served its purpose but absolutely no value for cost of room September 4, 2013

We booked an executive room and the only difference between the standard room and executive room is you get two bottles of water and you pay more. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing Booked two rooms when my daughter called your hotel to ask for a late checkout on one of our rooms she was told it was okay. She asked if they needed our reservation number and was told no just to tell them when we checked in....but when e checked in front desk said they could not allow a late check out. We were there for the women rock half marathonand really wanted to shower after run. Then our key cards did to work for one of our rooms and since we needed to get to expo we couldn't get keys until we came back. Beds in both rooms re rock hard and did not adjust with keypads. Also we saw sign at front desk about healthy buffet for dinner but they had No info on the hours. The room was very noisy. Also the concierge tried to arrange your shuttle van to take us down the road to the end of race but could not find a driver so we needed to take a cab. This race brought a lot of business to your area and I am sure your needed to cater more tothe runners. I have shared my concerns with the organizers from team ortho..the need tocomsidered these concerns when they recommend hotels. We have stayed at many hotels as we travel to runs and for pleasure this was the biggest disappointment of recommended hotels...the best things I can say was the location was great and we had plenty of hot water.w September 4, 2013

The Only thing I didn't like was we had a room with a sliding glass door that went into a large open room with public access. My family and I had booked this hotel as I was running in the Women Rock, which was very close to the location (perfect if running the Women Rock!!) We arrived quite late (approx 10:30 pm), upon check in went to have a shower and there was no hot water. I called the front desk and was rudely asked if I had turned the hot water on, and then was told, "Well we must be out of hot water!" We stayed in a room that faced into the building and had a wall of sliding doors, this seemed very weird to me but room was fine. All in all the hotel was alright, just a few inconveniences which left us feeling a little put out. September 3, 2013

We needed a refrigerator for insulin and we received a free upgrade so we could get the refrigerator which added the perk of the microwave. Staff were kind and considerate of those needs of everyone. Carpet in room was stained but I read other reviews and it is said there are some renovations in the future which will improve everything. Otherwise the room was clean. Walls are very thin we did hear our neighbor’s conversations without trying. But the room served its purpose. I was there for the Women Rock Half marathon and we needed it for a night sleep and a shower. Location is awesome--lots to do within walking distance. September 3, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed poor service We arrived only to find that they had no record of our reservation. They stated that their system had been down for days. After showing them the confirmation email and what had been reserved they told us they didn't have a king room available but we could have a room with two beds. When we showed them that we had already paid for a king room and asked to be refunded the difference we were told that they didn't have the ability to refund the difference. Instead they offered to comp us breakfast. Finally after a bit of debate, suddenly they had a king room available. Room was comfortable however the hallway leading to it was very shabby. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not what I expected I had a reservation for a king bed with a river view. At check-in, I was told I could have either 2 doubles with a view or a king with no riverview. I think that is the point of a reservation- to reserve the room that you want to end up with! The elevators were slow or broken. There was no signage to get to the attached parking ramp. When I asked for directions, I was told it depended on what level you were parked on. I just wanted to find the ramp! At check-out on Sunday morning, there was only one person at the front desk. We left our key and walked out. I never did receive a receipt by email or mail. On the plus side, the location was good for the wedding I attended, the room was clean and did have a nice view. I have stayed at a lot of hotels in the past few years and I have to say this was surprisingly disappointing. August 28, 2013

Our room did not get clean. Our bathroom door did not close. Only one elevator working on Sunday at check out time... Nightmare! Computers not working, unable to check out. Coffee shop only opened for a few hours in am. Won't recommend. August 28, 2013

It was nice to see the bellboy tried to speed up my check in by getting my bags out as quickly as possible and onto the shuttle bus. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mediocre Hotel Delayed flight so checked in at 1 am. Tried the room key and it didn't work. This woke up the person staying in the room. Went back to the front desk and they apologized for this error - their computer system was down and they were using a paper list to track room occupancy. I had requested a room with a view of the river when I made reservations weeks before. Because I checked in so late, all the good rooms were taken, so they put me in a windowless room in the "dungeon" which is on the bottom level and adjacent to the pool. Dark and noisy from pool activity. Room was a little beat up and worn. They offered to move me but I had unpacked already. Blah, would try somewhere else next time I stay in St. Paul. Also their computer system has been down for a week and I still haven't received my invoice to do my expenses for work. August 24, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Starbucks a plus, rooms average The staff was courteous even when their computers were down. parking was convenient, and the starbucks was a nice add-on. I didn't use the pool but it looked nice. Nice location to River-center and activities downtown. The lady at the parking garage lacked customer service and one time when I was leaving I had to wait for her to finish watching a youtube video before she noticed I was there to open the gate. She lacked customer service, and was not very nice. The room was okay. The bed was a sleepnumber but I don't think they worked very well. The sheets felt itchy and the bathroom was not very clean. There was hair all over the place and the vent in the shower was full of dust. The ceiling was peeling, probably because there is no fan in the bathroom, and gets very steamy in there. The toilet seems like it was an afterthought and it's in a really weird location. I would probably not stay here again or recommend it. August 24, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Staff struggled mightily with down computers We arrived on Thursday and the computer system was down. When we left on Sunday, still no computers. I still don't have my bill a week after checkout. Unacceptable. I can't believe they did not have a shadow server on their data system. We had trouble with keys not working repeatedly requiring another trip to the front desk. No folio so I don't even know if the charges were correct. Nothing was offered as compensation for all the inconvenience. Not even priority club points. They do have a nice pool, but carpet needs refreshing, bathrooms are cramped. I would stay somewhere else next time in St Paul. August 21, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible Check-In The "system" was down for several days, and I waited in line to check-in for 30 minutes. Actually the people behind me checked in before me, and they were helped after me. My room was wrong and did not have time to fix it. They were unaware of my reservation, unable to assist, did not confirm rate, didn't have me sign anything upon check in, and wrote my credit card number on a half peice of paper which could be viewed by anyone. Horrible experience for a high end hotel, I should have stayed at a competitor for better service. Never going to stay there again. Apparently, you must have cash upon exiting the ramp, and if you don't they ask you to go get cash from the cash machine. August 21, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by One night stay Although the hotel, staff, and guest room were very nice; the wifi connection in our room was very spotty. My husband is in the military and he had been away for 3 weeks and I brought my kids to the hotel. We were unable to connect to have Facetime or Skype. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Systems Down This has to be the worst Crowne Plaza experience in the IHG system. It does not live up to the Crowne Plaza brand. I am Platinum IHG member, I've stayed here twice and will never stay again. This hotel is cursed with the Sleep Number torture device - the cruelest bed ever devised. It is like a lottery trying to find a room without one. On check in, I was informed all computer systems were down... so no idea which rooms were available. Front desk had to guess which rooms did not have torturous sleeping devices. Additionally, I had yet to check in and not return to the front desk asking for another room. one time due to the beds and this past time due to an unlivable room. Upon entering the room I noticed shredded wall paper, dirty carpeting and plaster strewn all over the room. I felt like I should be renting the place by the hour... My final room, the carpet was unclean, wrinkled and coming up and appeared dirty. The rooms A/C unit was loud, rattled and unclean, showing black dust lines at the outlet. Additionally, the sound on the tv was not working and I was told to unplug and then re-plug the tv from the back of the set... really? At Check-out, the front desk clerk, seemed surprised by the condition of the room(s) and informed me there was no Manager on duty to rectify the problems. She even stated they were about to go through a remodel but there are no signs of that taking place. I was given a card to call a manager at a later time. I gave the front desk clerk my card stating that the Manager should be so concerned he/she should be calling me! I've not heard a word... This place should be AVOIDed all cost. highlights - fast internet and decent location but there are other places in DT St. Paul which are as convenient but are just not falling apart like this one.
