Traveled down for some sun and relaxing for the 4th. Facility was clean but a little on the rough side, but from my experience that is standard for beach side properties with all the wear and tear with salt and sand. Location was great, just across the street from the beach and overlooked the 4th of July parade route. We were about a mile from where the city fireworks were shot off which we had a great view from the beach out front. Staff was friendly and helpful, although I was NOT recognized as a priority club platinum elite member during check in. I travel a lot for work and I put a lot of weight into the recognition and perks of being a platinum member.
The pool stayed open late, not sure if that was due to the holiday weekend or not, but it was nice since we were there to get away. They setup a movie for the kids on a projector/screen poolside which I thought was a cool idea.
Overall it was a enjoyable stay.

We were very pleased with our stay here. Room was ready at 3:30 on a busy Saturday, they even shuffled us so we can have a room near pool. Pool staff very nice and kept area clean and stocked with towels. Movies at pool each night and extra goodies like free popsicles. Kids eat free at restaurant, nice surprise! Front desk very helpful and professional, as was security staff. When I thought I'd lost my ipad they were very nice and contacted police (sorry for the false alarm!). Great location to everything! Moody Gardens and Pleasure PIer a must do! Walk across the street to beach! Will stay here again.

i called this hotel nine times to ask about a bedside fan I had left. They took my information and said they would have someone to call me back. It is now a month later, and no one has return my call or mailed my fan. I even offered to pay for the shipping. I left my name, address and phone number.....no response yet. Can someone please let me know something, I am still waiting to hear from you. A reimbursement for my fan would be nice.

This hotel is way understaffed and dirty. I will never again stay here again. Rooms where not ready to check into until after 7:30PM!!

I am from the area living in Cincinnati now and extended our vacation a few days. I was visiting in East Texas and took the internet shopping for a place to stay in Galveston. I feel really lucky to have picked the Holiday Inn on the Beach, The location is awesome, rooms VERY COMFORTABLE !!, Service outstanding. Highly recommend this hotel, The balcony is great with the beach right across the street with chairs and umberellas to rent.

WE ARRIVED ON SUNDAY JUNE 9TH AT 12:30 P.M. WE WENT TO THE FRONT DESK TO CHECK IN EVEN THOUGH WE KNEW IT WAS TO EARLY BUT AT LEAST THEY WOULD HAVE OUR NAME WHEN THE ROOM WAS READY. THE FRONT DESK GENTLEMAN TOLD US IT SHOULD BE READY WITHIN THE HOUR NO LATER THAN HOUR AND HALF AND TOOK OUR CELL PHONE NUMBER. NO CALL SO WE WENT BACK. THEN WE WERE TOLD IT WAS NOT READY, AND THEY WOULD CALL US AGAIN. AT 330 P.M. WE WENT BACK AND WAS TOLD THEY JUST GOT THE PAPERS FOR OUR ROOM. SO WE RECEIVED NO CALL AT ANY TIME LIKE WE WERE TOLD. I HAD REQUESTED WHEN I MADE THE RESERVATION, FOR A ROOM ON A HIGH FLOOR. WE WERE TOLD THE HIGHEST WAS 3RD FLOOR. FINALLY SHE CHECKED AND GAVE US 4TH FLOOR. THATS NOT WHAT I REQUESTED!!!! THEN WHEN THEY GAVE ME PAPERS TO INITIAL FOR THE STAY, THE RATES WERE HIGHER THAN MY CONFIRMATION. WE SHOWED THEM THE CONFIRMATION AND THEY FINALLY CORRECTED IT BUT DIDN'T SEEM LIKE THEY WANTED TO. ON OUR LAST DAY AT THE HOTEL, WE LEFT THAT MORNING AT 10 AM RETURNED TO THE ROOM AT 330 PM AND OUR ROOM HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED. WE HAD TO GO TO FRONT DESK FOR CLEAN TOWELS TO TAKE A SHOWER. THEY ONLY HAD 2 TOWELS TO GIVE ME. THIS HOTEL NEEDS IMPROVEMENT WITH THE FRONT DESK AND SERVICE.

I was a little concerned about this stay because of a previous stay at another Holiday Inn that was not good. But to my surprise this was a great stay! We had a great ocean view and the room was very clean. The staff was very friendly and always spoke to you when you passed them in the breezeway. The hotel staff was helpful in recommending places to eat and other attractions. The nightly rate was very affordable also. The hotel showed movies every night at the pool and that was fun for my little one. The pool was nice, but I did not like how people were allowed to smoke in the pool. This is a great family atmosphere and the smoke ruined the pool for me. That is my only complaint. Great Job Holiday Inn.

This trip was one of the most disappointing I have ever experienced. We arrived at 4:30 to check in and were forced to wait for our room to be ready. I then had to approach and ask them almost an hour later if the room was ready and it was. Basically, the attendant never followed up to get us taken care of and I would have had to wait forever if I had not gone and checked with the desk. The delay of getting in our room late caused the entire evening schedule to slip to a point we had to cancel with friends. This location is not worth my money, time or ever returning too!!!! They didn't recognize I was even a priority club member until I checked out with the manager, who verbally said he was sorry but clearly didn't care about my complaints on the visit! My wife was really upset about it. I travel too much for business to have what limited personal travel with my wife affected like this trip.

I've stayed at this location several times over the past few years. It is in a good location, directly across from the beach. However, the rooms are in need of a remodel or refreshing. The motel overall is in need of an update. The carpet is old, rooms smell musty. There are not enough electrical outlets. All the rooms are showing their age and wear and tear. The sink filled rapidly due to the slow drain. In this day and age...outlets are a must for all of our devices. The internet reception is poor to average. Breakfast buffet is nice, with a broad range of choices. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool is nice and adjacent to the bar. All the rooms have a view to the beach, except for the 1st and 2nd floors. Check in was a breeze, as a Platnium member, the welcome package was nice.

I can not say enough good things about my stay at the Holiday Inn Galveston On the Beach. As soon as I arrived I was amazed at how friendly and helpful the staff was. We arrived early and asked to check in early and they were very accommodating. Got to our room and it was exceptionally clean with beautiful linens. During our visit my grand daughter got sick at 10:30 PM and I called the front desk for clean linens and supplies to clean my room. They were there within 10 minutes to help in every way. I was also very surprised how great the food was in the Holiday Inn restaurant. Great presentation and delicious with very friendly wait staff. This is an excellent hotel and I felt so welcomed by everyone there. They have great programs for the children and everything exceeded my expectations! Would highly recommend!!

This is my third review of this miserable property and I will continue to post until they are posted and not deleted...The first two never appeared and I cannot let this horrible experince go un-noticed!!! Upon reviewing my last post, there was a box that showed up that I used inappropriate language!! This could not be further from the truth! I am in a Bible Study Group and do not use inappropriate language... I will be short with this review, as I have spent way too much time on the first two reviews that were never posted!!! I spend 40,000 points for this miserable stay and was not allowed in the room until after 7 PM! I m still waiting to speak to a manager and this does not look like it will happen...

We had a great time, our room was very clean and the staff very nice and helpful. Was able to get an early check in, even with Mardi Gras kicking off. Our room was on the 5th floor facing the Gulf, had a great view of not only the ocean but the parades. Just wish they had room service available.

Went to Galveston for the first time and we had a wonderful time at the Holiday Inn! All the Hotel Staff and Resturant Staff were very nice and friendly, they would look us when they greeted us which is great! The room was clean and awesome! We are making plans for Valentine's to go back so see y'all soon! :)

Our experience at this location was unfortunate because our check-in was severly delayed. Eventhough I requested early check-in at the time we booked the reservation, this was not even remotely feasible when we arrived. We were continuously told to wait. When I was finally able to get someone's attention at the front desk and explain that we were supposed to be at a wedding ceremony (the whole reason we were there in the first place# someone was quickly able to do something. 15 minutes before the ceremony was to start we were let into our hotel room. Needless to say, we missed it! :-#
The breakfast diner in the hotel is ridiculously expensive. I recommend finding another spot for food.

We just took a family vacation and stayed at this hotel. The accomodations were awesome! We had movies by the pool each night and the staff and food was wonderful! Everyone was so friendly and the room was clean and smelled fresh.
We also loved the location. You are just across the street from the beach and we sure enjoyed building sand castles and playing in the water.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort in Galveston for a conference in November. On the internet, the pictures are very nice, but I felt deceived. The entry to all rooms was from outside. No inside entry. We were put on the first floor, and all three nights we stayed, we could hear the words from the music the hotel bar/club was playing. We called to complain about the noise. The manager said he would get them to turn down the music, but it never happened. We were still up because of the music at midnight. As loud as it was, I don't know how high up you'd have to be on the floor level to not hear it. We would not stay here again.
The cleaning staff was always very friendly.

Positives: The Hotel has a Great Location, Free Parking, 1 minute walk to the Beach and Great Views. The Rooms are refurnished which is very nice, the balcony is great. Comfortable beds, Modern TV's, in room safe. Very Friendly and professional checkout experience
Negatives: bathroom showers not ideal for someone over 6ft tall. Check in experience could of been better staff could be trained better, Dinner Menu in Restaurant, and service was very basic

My husband and I travel and stay in Holiday Inn hotels all over Texas and we have never been more disappointed in this hotel condition. The rooms are not only small, but are in disrepair. Even the furniture in the room was falling apart. We spoke to the hotel manager about our concerns and he assured us these problems would be addressed. There is no inside hallway to the rooms...they open up to the outside...like a Motel 6. The location of the hotel is fine...very close to the beach. We even took photos of the room/furnishings to show the manager, who was very nice. credited us our points back for this stay.

The hotel is in an excellent location right on the beach and every room has a balcony. It felt wonderful to sit on the Balcony and watch the sun set and to watch a storm in the distance over the water.

Good service, good location, good rooms.
Very slow restaurant service, even when almost empty. Food was average at best and overpriced. Would have done better at any of the local restaurants.
Very noisy in the evening from the pool-side bar, and sound carries up to all the rooms.
Staff was great at front desk, concierge etc., just not in the dining area.

I believe calling this property a resort is a stretch of the word. When I booked this hotel on-line I thought it would be a very nice resort-style property; that was not the case. The staff were all friendly. There was no special recognition for being a platinum elite priority club member. The room was a bit small. The only plus I found at the property was the nice Gulf view from the room/balcony. The property is a bit old and can use a good renovation and cleaning. It also has a strange layout. There is a bit of a walk from the reception desk to get to the rooms, especially if you park in the front of the hotel The pool area seemed nice though.

After several stays of substandard service, ie. lack of priority recognition, wrong room, toleration of late loud parties, being ignored by front desk personnel, there was a pleasant improvement in service.
