Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great if staying, not for Amtrak connection This is a very nice property, and sometime I hope to stay for a few days. The room was very comfortable, and the balcony was huge, overlooking an elevated courtyard. My only disappointment was checking into a hotel for only two hours. I reserved my room anticipating a stay from 9pm to 10am while on an Amtrak layover between trains. The location is a short 15 min walk from station, and I thought this would be ideal. By 3:30pm on day of arrival, it was clear that as our train was 4 hrs late, we wouldn't be getting in before 1am or later. I called to discuss options, and the only ones offered were no-show or to check in when I arrived. When asking how reward points would be handled in a no-show, I was transferred to IHG operator. It wasn't clear why hotel staff transferred call to IHG instead of answering themselves. IHG operator indicated first night + tax charged but no points or night would be credited. With this in mind, I planned to check-in regardless of how long the stay. By 8:30pm, the train was 5:30hrs late, so I called hotel to update on arrival of 3am or later, and was told that would be noted, and any time I arrived would be fine as hotel had not sold out. On arrival at 3:30am, I find out my room was processed as a no-show, and after short delay I was able to be checked in. Two hours later, when I attempted to check out, it took additional delay to find the paperwork, which also delayed my return to the station. If you are planning on a one-night stay for rail connection, do not count on assistance if your travel is delayed, and be prepared for problem if you end up with a very late arrival. May 26, 2015
