I recommend it to my colleagues for its convenient location, friendly staff and they all like it. The bar at the to is worth to go. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Location The InterContinential is what you would typically expect with the following exceptions: - On-site Dining is mediocre and expensive. You are in SF, why bother here when your options are legend? - They change for wifi. Seriously?! This is 2015, not 2001. Get with the program. WiFi should be free and highspeed. At $60 for a 50 Mbps cable connection, charging $15 a day is petty and insulting. - Water bottles in room are $7. Again, should be free, but if not, something a bit more reasonable. What does it say about your property if people are constantly walking in with grocery bags?! April 30, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Weekend Stay Excited to stay at this iconic hotel for the first time. As an Ambassador Club member, received an upgrade upon check in, a great corner suite on the 17th floor facing the Golden Gate and Alcatraz. It was just a great room - spacious with separate sitting room, and the bathroom was bigger than my first apartment. It was the sort of room where I would have been happy sitting in and reading for the entire weekend were it not for San Francisco at my doorstep. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and sleep came easy. We did not eat at the hotel, but did try to grab a drink at the Top of the Mark. We were there on a Friday night when the venue transforms into a club of sorts... velvet ropes, a loud band... perhaps great for some, but not for the "I just a want a great drink with a great view" set. Regardless, the staff was very nice but we meandered to another nearby establishment. Only quibble with the hotel was the gym, where the treadmills were outdated, and two of the three needed a serious overhaul. Otherwise, there were weights, bikes, & machines in a space that might accommodate 7 or 8 people comfortably at most. For a hotel of this caliber, a better gym is needed. But focus on the room, which was lovely, and a staff that is genuinely nice and interested in your wellbeing. The Union Street and Chestnut Street shopping districts are a must see - perhaps a 15 minute walk at most. Go to those streets for shopping, rather than Union Square because of the more local flavor of the stores and eateries. For getting around, the cable car is at your doorstep, but to get around swiftly, use Uber. I highly recommend this property, and join the Ambassador Club by all means to get the best deal. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful view - just not of Alcatraz We were in town for a wedding and stayed at the Mark Hopkins in a King View Room. We requested a view of Alcatraz and the hotel was very accomodating and gave us a beautiful corner room. Unfortunately, it was on the 11th floor, and so there was a building blocking Alcatraz from the view. Check-in was a bit of a hassle because we arrived at 3:30 and the room was not prepared yet (it was supposed to be ready at 3). It wouldn't have been an issue except we had a wedding to get to at 4, so we had to leave our bags with the concierge. That being said, when we did arrive and get our keys, all of our bags were already placed neatly in our room. The rest of the stay was great. The room was gorgeous, sizeable and comfortable. It could have used a few more outlets (or the lamps with the outlets in them) as we had to charge our phones across the room, but it was otherwise a delightful stay. April 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding Ambassador Experience This is a very old, iconic impressive San Francisco landmark. The front desk is cavernous and comfortable. Doorman is very welcoming and helpful. Front Desk is well staffed and there is rarely a wait. Check In by Dave who manages the restaurant and Club Intercontinental could not have been more pleasant. UPGRADE to junior level suite on a high floor with great views was much appreciated. Breakfast buffet was outstanding. Dave and waiters always made an impressive effort. The food at breakfast and hors d'oeuvres in the evening were outstanding. I note that many complain of small rooms. This was not my experience. My room was spacious, well furnished and full of light throughout the day. Room lighting in the evening was excellent. Overall, this is a venerable, well managed properties that offers excellent food, service and accommodations. The rooms rates are very competitive for this relatively expensive hotel market April 28, 2015
