Insider Tips

Don't call it Frisco!

San Francisco is a great diverse city, with its people from all parts of the world. We're friendly and enjoy showing off our city, don't hesitate to ask anyone for directions!
As splendid as when it opened in 1926, Mark Hopkins is one of the city’s finest historic San Francisco luxury hotels. It’s ideally located at the crossing of three cable car lines, just minutes from Union Square. Each suite is furnished in a unique, stately style. Breathtaking views of San Francisco combine with fine dining and a signature 100 Martini menu at Top of the Mark restaurant. Described when it opened as ‘architecturally perfect’, this San Francisco luxury hotel remains so today.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fabulous Stay We stayed here during the Outside Lands music festival and loved it. All staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and helpful. Room was very comfortable and we slept well after walking so much each day. Many of the festival staff also stayed here. I loved the huge bathroom with window looking out. I especially liked that the windows in the room opened and we could open them at night for fresh air instead of using the air conditioner, which sometimes makes me sick. The only downfall is that you have a big hike up the hill if you want to go out for a quick bite or pick up something quick somewhere. But the stay here is worth it. I am a travel agent and check out different properties all the time and this is one I will definitely recommend to clients when they visit San Francisco. 18 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by An enjoyable stay in a memorable hotel and city. We chose the Intercontinental to start a two-city holiday and took the club package. We were given a corner room on a high floor with views partly to the city and partly to the bay. The room was well equipped, clean and reasonably spacious. One of the highlights of the stay was a delicious buffet breakfast, containing high quality ingredients and a wide choice of items within a relatively small layout. The combination of this along with very friendly staff serving and attending the breakfast room added considerably to the enjoyment of the stay. We also enjoyed a drink in the Top of the Mark bar which afforded 360 views of the city and a very nice (if pricey) list of drinks and small meals. Finally, the hotel is located on a hill and visitors should keep in mind that when walking, they are going downhill when leaving the hotel and uphill at the end of the day! Overall, a very enjoyable stay and highly recommended. 18 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect in San Francisco You really can't get more appropriate for a stay in SF than at the top of Nob Hill at the Mark Hopkins. I stayed here 17 years ago (nearly to the day, actually) when my family came to SF for a conference. I can say that the MH is still a wonderful hotel and a destination. Though I was a guest for work in town, I would come back with my family for a holiday. The gym could have been nicer, but as far as hotel gyms go, this was sufficient (then again if you really need a good workout, just run down to the wharf and back...) 17 August 2014
