Beautiful Pond views

The Hotel was surprisingly older than expected.

There were not modern electrical amenities, i.e. USB, lighting ect.

Enjoy looking at beautiful water the stove was a great help to cook some food. Love the smiley faces of the staff. We were greeted was a IHG member. It was easy to use some of our points. Thanks for your service

Most comfortable bed ever!

The beds are amazing, and the television was bigger than what I've had at other hotels. The pillows were perfect and the bed was better than my own bed at home. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Brandi - she was amazing. The location is super convenient to everything.

Great staff nice space

This hotel chain goes above and beyond when they can. Our stays are always worth the money and we enjoy the hotels. We will definitely be staying in a Candlewood suite for our next trip. We will definitely consider staying here again when we go back to Newport News.

This hotel is poorly managed. It is dirty and the hotel staff is incompetent. The room had trash and food from in the fridge from the past guest. I pleaded and cried for a room change and was ignored.

Not worth the stay

I was at this location for 2 nights and it was very disappointing. Upon checking in the room had a smell, the silverware was rusty, the curtains had fallen, a knob on the stove wasn't working and the toilet seat broke. The front desk staff was notified immediately and nothing was resolved. I notified again the following morning and was told everything would be fixed before the end of day or I would be moved to another room. However, that did not happen. I barely was able to sleep due to light coming in the room from the curtain being broken. I had to go out and buy utensils to eat with since the ones provided were rusty. Needless to say I will not be returning to this location and am advising family and friends not to as well.

The staff is super, the cleanliness and conditions of the building need improvement. Smokers would stand outside of the pool area to smoke. We could not use the pool. Shaded areas need to be provided

Horrible Experience

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 10 years. This is by far the WORST experience I have had at this hotel or any other.

Not only did I have issues but I overheard at least 3 other guests expressing their concerns as well:

My 2bdrm suite: hair all over the bathroom, pink goo in the tub, filthy shower head, all dishes were left in the dishwasher and not clean, used coffee filter in the coffee maker, recliner was broken and had food under the cushion and unidentified white stains, sofa bed was filled with crumbs/food. The guy who attempted to clean the bathroom didn't even turn the water on; he just used a spray bottle and a rag. Upon learning of these issues the general manager offered me $20 worth of items from the pantry and 10,000 points. The grill area was full of the old A/C units they had been replacing so you couldn't use the seating are. There were also no propane tanks attached to the grills so you still couldn't cook. I have stayed at this hotel and the neighboring Staybridge (now a Homewoods Suites) primarily for the ability to pack my cooler and cookout and hang after a day at the beach. This was impossible on this trip.

Other customer #1: was told she can take her own garbage out to the dumpsters.

Other customer #2: asked for ice machines because the refrigerator in her room wasn't making ice and was rusted on the inside; she was told she would have to leave to hotel and find ice elsewhere.

Other customers #3 and #4: A couple waiting for a new room because the room they checked into was dirty so they were waiting for them to clean another one. This was after 5pm on Saturday.
