The ruins of Kubota Castle, built by the Satake clan, the first feudal lord of Akita Prefecture, who was transferred from Hitachinaka to the country. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll while enjoying the seasonal scenery, including cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall.

A Western-style building constructed at the end of the Meiji period as the former Akita Bank's head office. The exterior is Renaissance style, while the interior is Baroque style. It is designated as a National Important Cultural Property.

There are two breweries, a storage facility, a bottling factory, and a warehouse for finished products on the premises, from preparation to shipping. Please feel the traditional sake brewing that Akita is proud of.

The market in front of the station offers fresh local seafood, wild vegetables, mushrooms, fruits, and other seasonal delicacies of Akita. You can also stock up on Akita's specialty foods such as kiritanpo hot pot and local sake.
