Oomoriyama Zoo Park

Oga Aquarium GAO

The aquarium stands in a perfect location overlooking the Sea of Japan. The "Oga Sea Aquarium" is a powerful sight. The aquarium exhibits 10,000 animals of 400 species, including polar bears, penguins, seals, and sea lions. The prefectural fish of Akita Prefecture, the "grouper," is on display year-round, allowing visitors to closely observe the ecology of Akita's unique creatures. *Please note that the museum is temporarily closed on certain days.

Senshu Park

The ruins of Kubota Castle, built by the Satake clan, the first feudal lord of Akita Prefecture, who was transferred from Hitachinaka to the country. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll while enjoying the seasonal scenery, including cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall.

Tazawako Lake

Akarenga-kan Museum

A Western-style building constructed at the end of the Meiji period as the former Akita Bank's head office. The exterior is Renaissance style, while the interior is Baroque style. It is designated as a National Important Cultural Property.

Takashimizu (Sake Brewery)

Akita Traditional Performing Arts Heritage Hall

Kakunodate Bukeyashiki (Samurai Residences)

Kakunodate is a former castle town which flourished during the Edo period. Known as the “Little Kyoto of Tohoku”, the town is home to a district two-kilometres in radius consisting of samurai residences and traditional architecture popular with both domestic and international tourists.
