Crowne Plaza Changshu

Lose yourself in the view from Fangta Tower, the square pagoda in the centre of the city. This 9-storey ancient skyscraper gazes across the ponds and pavilions of the Song Dynasty garden that surrounds it, 10 minutes' drive from Crowne Plaza Changshu.

Shang Lake and Yushan Mountain are 10km from Crowne Plaza Changshu. You can stroll beside fragrant peony gardens that fringe the mirror-like waters, or explore the forested slopes of Yushan which are heady with the scent of peach blossoms each spring.

Trying beggar's chicken. It's wrapped in lotus leaves and mud, which hardens when baked and keeps the meat tender. Legend says the dish was created when a beggar buried a stolen fowl to avoid arrest. You'll toast his ingenuity after tasting this delicacy.
