Castle Teck, the „Thick Tower“ or the „Frauenkirche“ — all sights worth seeing. No doubt. But in the Swabian city of Esslingen there is more to be found than the historical sights, more that is worth a visit. One such treasure is the Webergasse 7. Here, you can let the hat maker Birgit Sophie Metzger put a spell on you. Her inspiration is found in the 1920s—her creations nonetheless are exhilarating and timeless.

The „Sammlerecke“ in Esslingen is a time vortex, trust us. Once you step into it, you won’t feel time pass anymore. Hours later you are the check out, some of your childhood favorites in your left hand, and some really freaky stuff in your right. Batman or The Simpsons? A must-stop: The Café Kauz. Far, far away from metropolitan hipsterdom, there is a small café that unites everything hipsters love about coffee culture. Vegan? Sure. Handmade? Of course! Lactose-free? Yes, that too. And because it is so good and of highest quality, it even works in the idyllic town of Esslingen. Having a great view of the vineyards makes the coffee from Freiburg and the handmade chocolates tasty even better

Esslingen is a city for explorers. And for all those who have lost their hearts to beautiful half-timbered houses. With over 200 half-timbered buildings dating from the 13th to 16th centuries, the old town has the largest stock in the region. Almost every building has its own exciting story to tell - Esslingen's Old Town is unique as an ensemble. Some of the half-timbered buildings stand out in particular.

Discover the Esslingen Wine Experience Trail on a guided hike (approx. 2 hours) and enjoy the wonderful view of the Neckar Valley. The 2.7-kilometre tour, which was awarded the Wine Tourism Prize 2017, offers fascinating insights into Esslingen's steep vineyards.
