Not Clean or Comfortable, look elsewhere

While the Hotel is in a convenient location and it easy to get to, the stay overall was poor. We started with the bed having not been changed after the previous guest. There was hair and other debris in the bed. We contacted the front desk and we were told there was no housekeeping to change the bed since it was after 5pm. The desk attendant brought clean bedding and changed the bed himself. We asked to change rooms but, since the hotel was fully booked, there wasn't a clean room to switch to. As we continued checking the room it was clear that the room hadn't been cleaned at all. There was hair all over the walls of the shower and there was garbage in the corner of the room, which indicated to me that the floor had not been vacuumed. At this point, I would have moved to a different hotel but since this was the weekend of Halifax Music Fest, everything in the city was booked and I wasn't willing to pay triple the price for another hotel. Later in the evening we were trying to use the TV and the TV would not work for cable or for us to hook up a laptop to watch a movie. Another member of the staff attempted to fix the TV and couldn't. He said he was going to return after speaking to his manager and then never came back. We didn't have a working TV at any point during our stay. The morning that we checked out we were offered a discount on our stay since we had to stay in a room that wasn't clean and didn't have a working TV. The staff that checked us in however didn't offer us anything for the state of the room and lack of working amenities. I would never book this hotel again. We usually like staying in Holiday Inns since they offer good value and clean, comfortable rooms, our experience at the Dartmouth Holiday Inn couldn't have been more different.

Beware ants in room! Lots of ants in the bathroom and entryway of the room. I had room 114. When I complain at the front desk the next morning, they were not suprised and not helpful. The breakfast was basic and take time to replenish items. Don’t think i’ll stay there again.

The location was convenient if you need to be close to Bedford, but otherwise there are far better options in Halifax to stay. The noise from the highway was unbearable.

Bad experince

Bad experince. Mouse in room but they were full and out of mouse traps so we had to live with the mouse. Then burnt out lihght bulb and broken/dangling cable box on TV took 3 requests over 24 hrs to fix. With no real apology. Agent when we checked out noticed bill wasn;t adjsuted and did comp us one night. Wouldn't stay there again!

I found a mouse in my room.
The only other room available was only a few doors down, meaning the risk of mice was still high.
While waiting outside my new room, I saw another mouse squeeze under yet another room.
It was a very unsettling experience.
& this new room was not a good room. There was an issue with the card reader, the toilet, the AC unit.

The following day I was offered a new room on the fourth floor. That was appreciated but the damage was done.

The first night, I left the hotel to fill up my gas tank at the petro across the street. There were three people hanging out by the garbage bin and I heard him yelling ‘MY ROOM HAS MAD MICE”.

So there clearly is problem.

I understand your staff don’t want to draw attention to the matter but it wasn’t until checking out where I was offered something, so it left me with a negative feeing all the way until checkout.

I was offered 10000pts for the inconvenience, but after further thought, I think enough points for a full free night should be provided. Especially since I was moved to 3 rooms for a 2 night stay.

The staff was friendly and helpful, I don’t want to take away from that. But the experience in the hotel was extremely unsettling and unpleasant.

Mice infestation and not your typical Holiday Inn

I have stayed in many Holiday Inns and this the only one that I have ever disliked and had a bad experience at. From the moment I walked in I could tell it was not to the same calibre I had come to expect at Holiday Inn. The first room I was in had an old musty wet smell. At 4am I was awoken by a mouse. I blocked it into a corner of the room. I went down to the front desk and told them and was offered a mouse trap which they grabbed from the kitchen. After thinking about it, I wanted a new room. They did work to accommodate that while I was gone for the day for work. The second morning I woke up and there were mice turds on the bedside table. There is clearly a problem here that they need to address. I was offered no apology and no compensation. I was offered nothing for being an IHG member either.

Cold feeling room, no rugs, decor needs updating. Bed okay, not great. Would not stay at this hotel again. Breakfast was minimal. Got a bottle of water on check in. I asked for another one since the reservation was for 2 people. Should not have to ask. When making the reservation I felt the man was completely rude. So much so that I almost canceled afterwards but we decided to give it a shot anyway. Needs some customer service care at this place.

We had a wonderful stay. Clean rooms and great service. Would definitely stay again. They have a nice selection for breakfast. Check in was a breeze.

Very nice hotel. Very friendly staff, however with out 3 night stay our room was not cleaned once. No one entered the room to empty garbage or anything. No fresh towels had to ask for towels at the desk. Told the receptionist, said he would look into it and never heard anything back. This was a 3 night stay for a family of 5.

Absolutely horrible found mouse trap in our room and our windows didn't even have a screen in it either . Staff said it was because of maintenance the mouse trap was left behind, but after reading these reviews that clearly was a lie. Also our bathroom door didn't lock even though I got told it was going to be fixed and it never was
Also asked for more towels as we had 4 people staying there and couldn't get the few towels we had dry enough to reuse between showers, when we asked for them we got told she had to get certain permission from her supervisor and that we may not be allowed to get them.
