You can walk through 1,000 years of British history with a Behind the Ropes tour of Windsor Castle’s State Apartments. These private, guided tours take place after the castle has closed to the public for the day. It is just 15 minutes by car and one train stop from the hotel and is the official weekend residence of Queen Elizabeth II. You will enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne, too.

In addition to Windsor Castle and LEGOLAND, nearby Windsor is home to Eton College. Founded in 1440 by King Henry VI, Eton is one of England's oldest schools. The Museum of Eton Life takes you through school traditions and its illustrious alumni, which include 18 prime ministers. You can also visit the Eton College Natural History Museum, which houses 16,000 specimens.

For a day of family fun, head to Black Park Country Park, just a 10-minute drive from the hotel. Go Ape is an adventure for all ages. Enjoy the view from the treetops, fly through the forest along zip-wires and leap off the Tarzan swings. Once back on the ground, there's a beautiful lake and miles of woodland paths to enjoy. End the day in the park's San Remo café before heading back to the hotel.

Treat your inner child with a trip to LEGOLAND, 15 minutes' drive from the hotel. Set in 150 acres of parkland, the resort features interactive rides, live shows and more. Get stuck in at a LEGO-building workshop or let loose on a wild water ride. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from in the park, and of course you can take a LEGO project or two home with you from the BIG Shop.
