Check-in was easy and fast. My room was great, very comfortable. I was expecting noise from the street to be terrible at night, but I didn't hear anything!
Breakfast was hot & delicious.
There is some construction going on...I'm sure the carport will look amazing when it's finished!
My only complaint was that it's not very easy to get in/out and around the parking lot area or Bell St. But it's Downtown Houston...kind of have to expect that.

I stay at many Holiday Inn Express hotels across the country. I often visit the Houston area and have stayed in a few different Holiday Inn Express hotels.
I had to change rooms upon arrival as there was a damp and musty smell to the original room I was given. However, even the second room had a less, but still noticeable odor. I chose to deal with it.
The quality of the fit and finish was below average. The switch on the desk lamp was broken, the new tub that was put in the bathroom had horrible finishing to the caulking (cracks and general messy look), and the lighting in the bathroom was a combination of different color light bulbs.
There were other areas "under renovation", but the overall feel was very cheap and poor coimpared to other Holiday Inn Express hotels i have stayed in.
Manager was rude and the hotel was disappointing.

Manager was rude and the hotel was disappointing. There were several trip hazards and broken grout in the bathroom resulted in a cut foot. The check in girl was awesome.

Great customer service, free parking in comparison to all other DT hotels, breakfast is fair, and facilities are outdated, but getting improvements. Great location, right across Toyota center and very close to Daikin park and shell energy stadium, and good bars/restaurants!!!!

Very close to Toyota Center so after game it is quick to go back to sleep. Also, there is clean environment and kind staff. Favor of breakfast. Maybe more bottle water could be provided in the room as 2 bottles seems less.

Worst Holiday Inn Express I’ve stayed in across multiple countries. Pool was cloudy, loud, and oddly controlled temperature. Room was weird, cleaned decently, but A/C was terrible. tv did not so much work. Breakfast was standard items, but lukewarm yogurt is not appealing. That and the disrepair/construction make this a not recommended site.
I wish I could have just went home.

When I first walked up to the hotel, I almost turned around and went home. It had an awful smell, and the drive-thru awning was taped off because the ceiling was falling. The lobby was okay, and the smell didn't come in the door with me. Using the elevator felt very risky and smelled terrible, but not in the same way as the parking lot. The hallway felt dingy and outdated. The room had clean sheets and towels, but you could tell that maintenance was lacking significantly, and what had been done was done poorly. The pool and hot tub were very unsightly, and I would not recommend getting into them at all. Breakfast was the same watery sausage gravy with what seemed like day-old biscuits every morning, along with other very disappointing meats and sides. Overall, my stay was necessary for work, and if I had been with my family, I would have left immediately for a new location.

Pros: The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. All facilities were clean and well kept. Breakfast was good, hot, and fresh every morning. Foot desk staff helped me get extra quarters when the dryer wasn’t working.
Cons: The room we stayed in (240) was under what was assumed to be construction or waiting for upgrades. Room was missing the body length mirror that was needed due for our conference attire. Our bathroom had no soap dish or shelf inside the shower, so we had to put our soaps and shampoos on the floor while we showered. Laundry room dryer #1 on the left ran for 45 minutes on high heat but did not dry my clothes, so I spent and extra hour drying them in the dryer #2 and missed my conference session scheduled for that time. Got stuck in the elevator twice. Key cards took between 6-8 times every time I needed to enter my room. Left hotel at 3:30 AM and was harassed by a homeless man in the lobby for food while trying to call my Lyft driver who was confused about the pick up due to caution tape surrounding the entire entry driveway where loading and unloading generally occur.
Not a horrible stay, but this is solely due to the team and the location. But due to the conditions of the hotel, I can’t say I would stay here again.
