Gloucester rewards the curious. From the 11th-century cathedral, one of England's finest, to the historic Victorian docks, the city is packed with stories. Gloucester Quays is less than 10 minutes on foot for shopping and waterside dining. The city's independent food scene is thriving, and we love pointing guests towards local gems the guidebooks miss. Ask us at reception, and we'll share our current neighbourhood picks.
Gloucester Cathedral is a 10-minute walk from The Forum. You can see it from many of our rooms and from the Crimson Spire rooftop bar. It's one of England's most extraordinary medieval buildings, and a must-visit whether you're here for a night or a week.
Yes. Gloucester Quays and the Victorian Docks are about a 22-minute walk or a 10-minute drive from the hotel. The docks are one of the most photogenic parts of the city, and the Quays have a great mix of shops, restaurants, and the National Waterways Museum. It's a brilliant stretch for an afternoon out, and well worth the trip.
Gloucester train station is just a 3-minute walk from the hotel. There are regular direct services to Bristol Temple Meads (around 56 minutes) and Birmingham New Street (around 57 minutes), with onward connections to London Paddington. It's one of the things that makes Gloucester such an easy city to visit.
We give every dog guest a custom guide to dog-friendly Gloucester, but here's a taste: Robinswood Hill Country Park is a brilliant local walk with great views, and the canal towpaths make for easy, scenic strolling. The historic docks area is largely dog-friendly, and our team at reception always knows the best pubs that welcome dogs too. It's genuinely one of the better cities in the Cotswolds region for exploring with a dog.
It really is. Gloucester sits at the gateway to the Cotswolds, and the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is on your doorstep. Cirencester is around 35 minutes by car, Bourton-on-the-Water is around 45 minutes, and the Wye Valley is about an hour away. The city itself has the cathedral, Victorian docks, and a growing food and drink scene worth a day on its own before you venture out into the countryside.
The Forum is one of Gloucester's most exciting new developments, a mixed-use destination in the heart of the city combining our hotel, cutting-edge office spaces, restaurants, bars, and a civic pavilion. It sits right in the Kings Quarter, close to the cathedral, the Victorian Docks, and Gloucester Quays. There's a real energy here; it's the kind of neighbourhood you actually want to explore on foot.
