Breakfast Fail

The room was clean and I was very happy with it. But when it came to breakfast, that was a complete fail. No breakfast sandwiches were made and people were standing around waiting for food. I gave up and got food at McDonalds. Even worse, both coffee machines were down, so there was no coffee. The employee saw that we were all trying to get coffee and he simply walked by and didn't offer any help or show any sign that he cared. There were a lot of unhappy people there, including me. Overall the hotel is nice, but the breakfast service was horrible. Also, when checking in, the guy was not happy that I was checking in as early as I was. It was 1:30 and he said I was too early. He eventually gave me a room, but made me feel bad for arriving when I did. I don't recall seeing anything on the website for check-in times. I might be wrong, but either way, I should have been treated better, especially since I'm a Platinum Elite member. All in all, I was not happy with the stay at all.

I was in town to visit my daughter who attends WMU. I had a small issue at check in (my fault) that Xavier was happy to help with and saved the day. My stay was great, comfy bed, very clean all around, food options were good, brew on demand coffee all day, blackout shades in the room, quiet. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

I rarely give excellent reviews, but Avid deserves them. I have already recommended it to friends and family. The beds and pillows are dreamy! I was really surprised at how quiet it was being right off the freeway. And a very quiet room.
Off-putting water, awkward staff

Check in was slightly awkward, though not unpleasant. I gave my name twice, my ID, and credit card, got my keys, only conversation was time of breakfast. When handed keys it seemed the interaction was over but I think the clear confusion on my face prompted the gentleman to then tell me where the elevator was. The water was questionably off-colored, tinted brown-yellow. Room was small, but fine. TV gives instruction on how to share screen from smart devices but doesn’t actually work. All lighting was very bright and fluorescent. No easy light to turn on in the night or early morning. After checking in and settling for all of 15 minutes or so, housekeeping staff let themselves into the room without knocking. We decided not to stay for our second night and left early Saturday afternoon. I advised the front desk, he adjusted my check out date and then stated that for my future reference if this happens and I leave after 2:00 and the room cannot be turned over by housekeeping that it may incur a charge… which I thought was odd given that I already paid for two nights in the room and wasn’t told I was being refunded? I was disappointed enough I didn’t press the issue. Not super impressed. Other IHG experiences have been much better. Best part of the hotel was the cute, modern accents and design. Location was not ideal - edge of town in not the nicest area.

Room was clean and comfortable for our needs. Breakfast was nice with hot sandwiches and grab and go options.
Bed and pillows are soft, comfortable and clean.

Better communication with front desk, communicated how important to have sleep during the day since I work night shift, housekeeping still knock on my door 3x during my sleep time, which i always communicate with the front desk when I check in that I do not need housekeeping, I even put the do not disturb sign and I still waking up with loud knock by housekeeping. Sink need to be cleaned, musty odor coming from the sink when using it.

Checked in after my family members that was having surgery, just needed to be close to hospital. But upon checking in, the outside wasn't shovel enough and not salted the door had to use was very slippery, Informed desk but nothing was done. And lobby restroom smelled like sewer water, breakfast was very small and not alot of choices and what was there wasn't very appetizing. Rooms temperature wasn't very nice even if we fixed the temps. I won't recommend it or return stay.
Housekeeping staff are thieves and management helps cover it up

I do not recommend this hotel housekeeping is snooty and stuck up. They will not refill anything that is missing out of your room. Also will steal anything that you leave in the room by accident.
This is one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed at

Despite a snowstorm in the area floors were clean, signs posted to watch your step. Room was immaculate, nothing missing or needed. Staff was friendly, helpful and professional. This is our go-to hotel when visiting the Kalamazoo area for work or personal it is also a favorite with co-workers. Parking is great and no muss no fuss. Great selection of grab and go breakfast items as well as sit and have breakfast items. If I had the ability to give 100 Stars I would.

This was my first time staying at an Avid property. My coworker and I were very impressed with the everything about it. The nightly rate made it the absolute best value in the area. We will be back!

Avid hotel in Kalamazoo Michigan was great. Service was friendly and courteous. Coffee was the best, fresh ground. Hotel was open and inviting. I would recommend to anyone traveling for business or pleasure.

Very clean, welcoming and the staff were personable and friendly, one can tell they enjoy their job with avid. Rooms were clean and beds were so comfortable . Coffee was the best I ever had. I will always be using Avid hotels from now on.
