Located in southern Michigan, Kalamazoo offers much more than a memorable name. The city is also known for its vibrant downtown and easy access to plenty of outdoor recreational opportunities. If you're planning a trip to Kalamazoo, discover what you can see and do while you're there.

To view an impressive collection of over 4,000 works of art, head to the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. This art museum and school has offered exhibitions, classes, events and activities since 1924. The permanent collection focuses on American ceramics, sculptures and paintings, and the museum has started to expand the collection to include African, East Asian, Oceanic and Pre-Columbian art.

At the Urban Nature Park, you can see how communities are able to transform abandoned industrial sites into ecologically important urban green space. This 4-acre park has hiking and biking trails weaving through restored wetlands and native prairie plants. There's also a repaired historic railroad bridge that creates a serene overlook on a creek.

When you're searching for a place to stay in Kalamazoo, you'll find plenty of hotel options. For a luxurious getaway, consider one of the four-star hotels in the downtown area. While there are a few budget-friendly hotels in downtown Kalamazoo, you'll find several other affordable options when you travel away from the city center.

If you want to drive to Kalamazoo, Interstate 94 runs just south of the downtown core. If you'd rather fly to the area, Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport is about 5 miles southeast of the city.

nice place to stay.
By guestrulz
Its comfortable and clean. That's what counts. However it is a Little noisy. You can hear people walking around up above you and in rooms beside you can hear people talking. It surprised me that I [More] could hear peoples shoes up above! The hotel is not built as if its concrete. I think its a wood structure. I still would return. Good breakfast offered. [Less]
Would Stay Here Again
By AngieT
Other than the pool being a bit too cold, and the sofa sleeper mattress needing to be replaced this is definitely a place I would stay again. All other aspects were up to or above par. [Less]
4 Star Stay
By Steve7
It was a surprisingly pleasant stay. It's quite the hotel for the small town of Hastings. They built it with the customers in mind. We won't stay any place else. [Less]
Not your usual
By RoadWarrior818
I get so many requests to review something that I've purchased. I get tired of writing the same thing and parsing out stars like they are gold. But I find myself gravitating towards products and [More] services that are highly rated by others, so I get how important it is. This hotel is truly outstanding and deserving of every single star. From making reservations to check-in to the room itself, this Holiday Inn stands out to me. The staff is fantastic. The place is clean and new and so quiet! My stay was exceptional and once this COVID-19 thing passes over, I'll be back. Guaranteed. [Less]
