Located in southern Michigan, Kalamazoo offers much more than a memorable name. The city is also known for its vibrant downtown and easy access to plenty of outdoor recreational opportunities. If you're planning a trip to Kalamazoo, discover what you can see and do while you're there.

To view an impressive collection of over 4,000 works of art, head to the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. This art museum and school has offered exhibitions, classes, events and activities since 1924. The permanent collection focuses on American ceramics, sculptures and paintings, and the museum has started to expand the collection to include African, East Asian, Oceanic and Pre-Columbian art.

At the Urban Nature Park, you can see how communities are able to transform abandoned industrial sites into ecologically important urban green space. This 4-acre park has hiking and biking trails weaving through restored wetlands and native prairie plants. There's also a repaired historic railroad bridge that creates a serene overlook on a creek.

When you're searching for a place to stay in Kalamazoo, you'll find plenty of hotel options. For a luxurious getaway, consider one of the four-star hotels in the downtown area. While there are a few budget-friendly hotels in downtown Kalamazoo, you'll find several other affordable options when you travel away from the city center.

If you want to drive to Kalamazoo, Interstate 94 runs just south of the downtown core. If you'd rather fly to the area, Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport is about 5 miles southeast of the city.

Hotel needs updating
By Jenn
The property is in the process of being updated but could use more attention to detail. The walls are markef up in the elevator and hallways. The desk staff was lovely upon arrival and departure. [More] The breakfast attendant was not friendly and seemed annoyed that people were in her way. [Less]
Breakfast is lackluster
By st1tchy
Tv's don't swivel, which is just a minor inconvenience. The pancakes are about 3" in diameter when they are usually about the size of a plate at other IHG hotels. The orange juice is also watered [More] down. [Less]
Great value!

It is I think one of the newer Holiday Inn locations. Staff was very courteous and the room clean and spacious. The pool was clean and at a good temperature. The in house restaurant was overall [More] affordable and a good value. Food is perhaps a hair on the salty side, but there beer selection was a plus. [Less]
