Staff was very friendly,room very clean super grateful for everything and everyone that helped me during my stay I had a really comfortable good time

Looks rundown and poorly maintained

There were cockroaches in our room that no one seemed concerned enough to address. Bathroom is TINY. Had to ask for extra towels multiple times as there were 4 of us in the room. Tiles broken and handrails missing in both elevators. Overall the property just seemed not very well maintained and staff seemed apathetic.

I've exclusively used IHG hotels for 40 years for business and personal stays. In all my years, this was the worst hotel experience I have experienced. In my opinion, this hotel is not a good fit for the IHG brand. I read other reviews where people commented on the current state of this hotel, so I won't repeat what they commented on, but completely agree with them. I will say the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The owner of this hotel is not investing in his business. The hotel is in a state of shambles. It is terribly run down. Couldn't believe how many people I talked to discussing this very subject while I was downstairs in the lobby.

A terrible IHG hotel

This hotel is very run down. The room stunk and was moldy. The safe and AC didnt work in room. Water pressure was poor. Only 2 of 5 ice makers worked in our building. The pool tile and brick around poll was falling apart. The fence around pool and walkway to ocean were rotting and falling apart. Cinder blocks holding roof down. The whole outside of building needs painting and AC units are a rusty mess. This is not like other Holiday Inn Resorts we have stayed at.

Always good beds.

Had to ask to be moved to a different room because of the moldy smell in the first room. Bed was comfortable and room could use a deep cleaning-especially carpets and perimeter of room. Water pressure not sufficient. Icemaker on all 6 floors yet only floor 2 and 5 were working. Safe not working. Exterior of property in decline. Pool tile falling off, cracks in floor of pool-tiles missing, brick around pool needs repair. Restroom door by pool does not lock. Fencing around pool rotting and falling apart. Kiddie pool not functioning. View out our window was of the
junkyard which is on the hotels
property-where several times we watched hotel employees go in and dig around for parts. Cinder blocks thrown on top of the metal roof of the main building, assuming it is holding down the roof? Disappointed this “resort” carries
the Holiday Inn name. Surely there
are standards that have to be met to be included in the IHG profile of hotels? Only redeeming quality was the hotel STAFF who were all extremely pleasant and helpful when needed.

The rooms didnt look anything like online. They were d rooms, ac unit in window rusted out on sides like it would fall through. Pools where not as nice as online showed, elevators made you wonder if they would make it up to your floor or not.

We stayed for 7 days of which the pool bars (w/the exception of small bar/pool in rear of hotel) were only open the first 3 days we were there. Our rooms were not serviced each day until around 5/5:30, which was the exact time we were returning (after leaving NLT 9am each day) for a day at the beach and wanted to shower and relax before dinner, which we couldn't because we didnt' have clean towels. The one day we did decide to use the towels from day before the cleaning crew showed up and when we asked if they could give us 30 minutes so we could finish our showers and get out of room for them to service, they couldn't understand us (and we couldn't understand them) and they said sorry and walked away.

The tubs are VERY slippery, and they do have a sign that says a matt would be offered upon request to help avoid slipping. I didn't get towels or a bathtub matt the first day so when we got home that evening after dinner, I went into Housekeeping closet myself (which was 2 doors down from us and open) and got the matt and towels we needed.

I NEVER got the requested additional hangers I asked for on the first night.

The bed was made daily and floor was swept but counters were NOT wiped down.

None of the ice machines in Tower B worked and when I was asked by another guest if I had found a working ice machine, I said no. He indicated he thought there was one in tower A on the 3rd floor. I was like I wonder why none of the machines are working, he said "I don't know, they weren't working two-weeks ago when we were here either."

Overall was not happy w/this hotel and would not recommend.

Just wrapped up a memorable visit to the Holiday Inn Resort on South Padre Island, and overall, it was a great experience. The location is unbeatable—right on the beach with stunning views, and if you're lucky enough to be there during a SpaceX Starship launch, you’ll have one of the best seats in town. Watching the rocket rise over the Gulf was absolutely surreal.

**Food & Service: Top Notch**
The culinary team deserves a shoutout—the food was consistently delicious, and the service staff went above and beyond to make meals enjoyable. Whether it was breakfast by the beach or dinner with a view, everything was well-prepared and served with a smile.

**Room for Improvement**
That said, the resort could benefit from a few upgrades:
- **Staffing levels** were noticeably low at times, especially during peak hours. The team on-site worked hard, but they were stretched thin.
- **Management engagement** seemed lacking—more visible leadership could help support the staff and improve guest experience.
- **Pool lighting** needs attention. Evening swims felt a bit dim and could be enhanced with better illumination for safety and ambiance.

Despite a few hiccups, the resort delivers where it counts: comfort, cuisine, and unforgettable views. With a little more investment in staffing and facilities, it could easily go from solid to spectacular.

Would I return? Absolutely—especially for another launch!
