Poor Room and Worse Service

My wife and I stayed at the Wrightsville Holiday Inn for 1 night. It was not a good experience. We were greeted by an unfriendly bellman. We then were checked in by a person who didn’t know how to check us in . Then we were questioned by a rude manager about our service dog. The restaurant staff was also unfriendly. Later that evening my wife wanted to take a shower, but the water pressure was low. We called the front desk, and they said they would send a maintenance man to check it. No one came so we had to call the front desk again. The maintenance man was also unfriendly and said the water pressure was normal. He did change the shower head, and the water pressure changed slightly. He didn’t seem to like his job. We think someone needs to talk with the staff about their attitude and the way they treat customers. We won’t be staying at this hotel again. We have stayed at other IHG hotels before with no problems. We also have several upcoming reservations at other IHG properties so we don’t expect any problems at these locations.

Overall, this was an excellent experience that exceeded my expectations. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful; Debra at the service desk and Sarah at the restaurant were highlights of the trip. The morning breakfast buffet was convenient and a good value. Beach service was great with chairs and umbrellas available for rent, and towels were available for use on the beach or at the pool. Only negative I can say is the experience when first arriving. The entry is not on the floor where the service desk is located, and there was no clear signage directing where to go other than a friendly attendant ushering me up the stairs.

Stayed for 3 nights and had king suite with balcony ocean front. Overall our room was clean with lots of room and nice decor. Only downside was the tile baseboards and small shower head needed cleaning and it would have been nice to have door or wall hooks for towels. All of staff we encountered were helpful and pleasant and it was a positive not to pay extra for parking.
We were surprised staying in a Holiday Inn not to have complimentary breakfast and coffee in lobby. Buffet was not worth the $20 charge and the coffee we had to purchase was not the best.

We were greeted by multiple employees and offered assistance and amenities before we even had checked in. The restaurant/bar, Solstice, has a generous menu and every meal we had was delicious and relaxed. Servers were friendly and spot on efficient Wendy and Maddie were exceptional. The hotel is well appointed and immaculately clean. Rooms and bathrooms were the perfect size and very comfortable. Non-carpet floors are smart for a beach location. Plenty of areas where to catch some sun or relax. We brought friends from overseas and they loved the Lumina as much as we do. Congratulations to the management for a beautiful stay. We can’t wait to visit again.

This place is a gem among the beach front hotels.
I was truly surprised by the quality and atmosphere. We fell in love with the beach front pool and shoreline. We walked the whole shore line and enjoyed the hotel restaurant.

Was a bit disappointed in the quality of this “resort”. It has the price tag of a resort but falls way short; it’s a largely just overpriced hotel that added many upcharges to final bill. It offers a nice pool but given it is not heated and the spring air doesn’t heat it well, the pool went unused by most. The very tiny hot tub was overused and not clean-as was indoor pool.
Unless you are there toward middle/end of summer when the ocean is warm and the pool is warm by summer air this “resort” is useless and very expensive! Disappointed for sure.

we have been making this an annual trip for the last four years and have celebrated not just family vacation but also our baby moon. The staff members are very friendly and we enjoy all of the amenities the resort has to offer. It is so convenient to the beach, but also to go down the road for 10-20 minute walk to some of the restaurants. We have never had a bad experience thus far and I hope to continue to make this a yearly tradition. One of the restaurant staff members in the resort remembered us from the previous years,which was nice and welcoming!

Location love the views and outside areas to sit look at the water. Pool is nice. Clean property they provide shuttle within 4 miles to nice spots
